Su You was forced into a corner and had no choice but to abandon the longsword in his right hand. He performed a side-flip, simultaneously changing his left-handed sword strike from a slash to a thrust, attempting to force Xing Huaiguo to retreat.
Who would have thought that instead of retreating, Xing Huaiguo would lunge forward to the right, first delivering a downward vibration, followed by a twist. Su You found himself unable to maintain his grip on the longsword, and his left-handed blade fell to the ground as well.
Xing Huaiguo did not let up, thrusting his sword tip forward directly toward Su You's chest, seemingly without the slightest intention of holding back.
Su You hurriedly utilized the Lingbo Microsteps footwork, dodging the strike like a gust of wind.
Xing Huaiguo seemed to have anticipated this, shifting his footwork and attacking Su You with his sword once again.
Su You's footwork flickered, moving as if he were taking a leisurely stroll, yet he dodged the light of Xing Huaiguo's blade every single time. Unfortunately, the pressure the opponent placed on him was so immense that he could find absolutely no opportunity to counterattack, leaving him with no choice but to keep dodging.
Little did he know, Xing Huaiguo, who was currently on the offensive, was already incredibly astonished.
Although he was using physical stats equivalent to a newly promoted high-level warrior, his combat proficiency was far superior to Su You's.
After easily knocking away Su You's two longswords, he had wanted to see how well Su You had mastered his Micro-level footwork, which was why he continued his assault, but he hadn't expected Su You to dodge all of his subsequent sword moves.
"Micro-level mastery? It seems I'll have to put in a little more effort."
Xing Huaiguo was startled, a hint of a smile flashing across his face. His footwork moved in rapid succession, and the longsword in his hand swung out before quickly changing trajectory mid-motion to strike directly at Su You.
Su You had just begun his dodging maneuver when he realized the opponent's sword technique had changed, leaving him completely unable to dodge a second time.
The sword light grazed the side of Su You's neck before being retracted. Xing Huaiguo said with a serious expression, "Your sword technique is too poor; it doesn't match your footwork at all. You need to practice more!"
"Yes, teacher."
Xing Huaiguo nodded and looked at the other five. "Next."
Su You picked up his two longswords, reflecting on the gains and losses of that battle while observing the other five students' sparring sessions with the teacher.
The three sixteen-year-olds clearly lacked any combat experience and couldn't even take a single move from the teacher. Garava and Dai Xueyang seemed to have some experience, but not much; they were defeated after only two or three moves.
In short, all six of them were rookies, but this was clearly within Xing Huaiguo's expectations. The Basic Training Camp was a place for geniuses to build their foundations; it was perfectly normal for students, most of whom were under twenty, to lack real combat experience.
Over the next few days, the six of them came here to train during the day. Sometimes they practiced alone, sometimes they sparred with the teacher, and they often exchanged pointers with each other, becoming much more familiar with one another.
In the blink of an eye, it was September 1st, the day Su You and the others were to head out for field combat training.
Su You wore a full set of combat gear, the communication watch fixed to his left wrist. A Baihong Sword was strapped to each side of his waist, and his backpack contained high-energy food, water, and medicine.
In front of Xing Huaiguo's villa, the six of them boarded the Extreme Martial Arts Hall's private vehicle with Xing Huaiguo, heading toward the train station in Hongning Base City.
Unlike the situation within Huaxia Country, Hongning Base City had a total population of only eighty million and no satellite cities. The train station here only led to the military bases in the eight major directions. (Hong had an army under his command.)
Because of this, those who rode the trains were basically all martial artists.
At noon, the group of seven arrived at a military base several hundred kilometers to the north of the base city.
Su You and the others stepped off the train and immediately saw a fifty-to-sixty-meter-tall iron tower standing within the military base.
Xing Huaiguo pointed at the tower and said, "That is the supply base for martial artists. Every military base in the world has such a lighthouse, symbolizing the path that lights the way home for us martial artists."
After entering the martial artist supply base, an "officer" helped them arrange their accommodations.
Although the staff inside this supply base wore military uniforms, they were not all military personnel. Members of the two major martial arts halls and the HR Alliance were also present, their main purpose being to purchase materials from rare monsters.
After the group of seven entered Villa C3, Xing Huaiguo spoke up:
"Fighting is prohibited within the supply base. If you are interested, you may go out for a stroll, but you are not allowed to leave the base. Do you understand?"
"Understood."
Xing Huaiguo nodded. "We will officially depart tonight, so don't wander for too long. Come back early to get some rest."
"Departing at night?" Duoniya asked, puzzled.
Dai Xueyang explained with a smile, "It's too hot during the day; it consumes too much stamina."
After saying this, Dai Xueyang immediately extended an invitation to Duoniya: "Do you want to go out for a walk?"
Duoniya agreed without a second thought. Colin, who was standing to the side, chimed in, "I want to go too! Let's all go together!"
"Right, let's all go together!" Garava quickly echoed, though his peripheral vision was fixed on Elena nearby.
Su You smiled. The number of female students in the Basic Training Camp was relatively small, and the fact that they could enter the camp proved their talent was not lacking; they all had the potential to become War Gods in the future.
Under these circumstances, unless they were extremely ugly, the vast majority of female students had pursuers, and there was often more than one or two.
The squad Su You was in had two female students, both of whom were quite attractive, so they had naturally attracted the pursuit of the three male students other than Su You long ago.
However, Su You was very picky and had no intention of participating in their activities, so he spoke up directly: "You guys go ahead. I didn't rest well yesterday, so I need to get some good sleep."
With that, Su You walked toward a bedroom on the second floor.
"I need to rest as well." Elena glanced at Su You's back and politely declined Garava's invitation with a smile.
In the evening, after the group of seven finished their meal in the first-floor dining room, they donned their equipment, left the supply base, and entered the wilderness area.
The seven of them walked along the dilapidated highway toward City 0125.
Su You took the lead at the very front of the team, followed by the three mid-level warriors: Duoniya, Colin, and Elena.
Behind them was their War God-level teacher, Xing Huaiguo, and finally, the two high-level warriors, Garava and Dai Xueyang, brought up the rear.
They hadn't walked very far when Xing Huaiguo signaled for the team to stop: "There is a G-level Iron-furred Wild Boar ahead. Duoniya, it's yours."
A G-level monster, also known as a mid-level beast soldier, had physical stats equivalent to a mid-level warrior, though it still possessed low intelligence.
Duoniya pursed her lips, drew her longsword with her right hand, held her shield in her left, and quickly approached the front. Xing Huaiguo also moved a bit closer to prevent any accidents.
Anyone capable of entering the Basic Training Camp had at least passed the martial artist combat assessment; there was certainly no one among them who would be completely terrified of combat.
