The Momentum Theorem

"Thirty seconds?"

Su You was utterly astonished. He had ten hours of practice time in the Sword Technique Training Room this month, so how could he have only thirty seconds left? Had the robot malfunctioned?

The thought had barely crossed Su You's mind when he realized how weak he felt, as though he'd been fighting for three days and three nights.

"What..." Su You hurriedly raised his left hand to look. His eyes went wide. It was already 5:03 p.m.

"I left at exactly seven this morning," Su You murmured to himself. "So that means I've been sparring with it for ten hours?"

Once he understood, Su You suddenly felt exhausted and hungry. All his muscles were sore, and his mental state was worse still.

"Damn it, how did I train for so long? Was that the kind of epiphany you read about in novels?"

Su You sheathed both Baihong Swords and headed straight for the exit, calling in an order for a sumptuous dinner on the way.

He made his way back to the loft, stumbling a little. After washing up through the soreness, he had his dinner delivered.

He wolfed down the meal, then fought off his overwhelming drowsiness as he went into the bedroom. The moment he collapsed onto the bed, he fell fast asleep.

In the early hours of the morning, bright moonlight shone into Su You's bedroom. On the bed, which was two meters long and wide, Su You suddenly opened his eyes and woke up.

Su You sat up, glanced at his Communication Watch, then stretched a little. He realized he had fully recovered and didn't feel even the slightest soreness.

"Eight-Nine Profound Art." Su You immediately understood why he'd recovered so quickly. The Eight-Nine Profound Art was a cultivation technique that could make the body attain sainthood. Although he was only cultivating the Qi Accumulation Chapter, every aspect of his physical abilities far surpassed those of martial artists at the same level.

The fact that he'd been able to fight for ten hours at full strength yesterday was probably also because the Eight-Nine Profound Art had greatly enhanced his stamina and energy.

"My defenses seem pretty strong, too," Su You murmured. He'd already had a vague sense of this. It seemed his body was no less durable than those of the monsters.

But his movement technique was too good. In all this time, he'd never been hit head-on by a monster, so he hadn't been able to confirm it.

"The Eight-Nine Profound Art is also a body-tempering technique, so it makes sense that it would improve my defense. Right, next time I can test it out on a Primary Beast Soldier."

After making up his mind, Su You got up and headed to the underground chamber to test his swordsmanship.

Yesterday's battle had propelled his swordsmanship into the proficient level—and he was already well beyond a beginner at that level.

After practicing swordsmanship in the underground chamber for more than three hours, it was already five in the morning. Su You hurriedly ate breakfast, then made his way to the Training Camp entrance.

Today was the day that trainees with even-numbered rankings from the previous month went to the Wilderness Zone to hunt monsters and earn achievement points.

Early in the morning, ten Training Camp vehicles were already waiting outside the entrance. Each could carry thirty-three trainees,

and every vehicle had staff from the Extreme Martial Arts Hall aboard. They were responsible for buying the materials from the monsters the trainees killed and recording their achievement points.

The ten Training Camp vehicles were lined up in a row, and Su You boarded the one at the front.

Although there were ten vehicles, they didn't all set off at the same time. Each one departed once it was full. Any trainee who hadn't arrived by nine in the morning was considered to have given up that day's hunt.

The same rule applied on the return trip: a vehicle could head back as soon as it had enough passengers. The last one left at nine in the evening. Any trainee who hadn't boarded by then would earn zero achievement points for the day.

In theory, the trainees could set off to hunt as early as midnight. In practice, though, nobody did that.

The reason was simple: martial artists had limited stamina, too. They needed rest and couldn't keep fighting for long periods.

In fact, even the earliest vehicle usually didn't leave until after five thirty. Its passengers were already among the most dedicated members of the Training Camp.

After boarding and scanning his face, Su You looked around the vehicle. There were only around ten people aboard, and he recognized just one of them.

Su You went to the very back of the vehicle and sat beside the short-haired girl who was resting with her eyes closed. She was Zhang Yue, who lived next door to him.

Zhang Yue opened her eyes and glanced at Su You, then closed them again.

Su You didn't try to make conversation. He'd only chosen this seat because he wanted to sit beside a pretty girl. It definitely wasn't because he was lusting after her.

As time passed, more and more trainees boarded. Quite a few glanced at Su You, who was sitting beside Zhang Yue.

Su You wasn't embarrassed in the slightest. He returned their looks in kind, even warmly greeting a few of them.

That left those guys somewhat bewildered, and even Zhang Yue beside him couldn't help giving him a puzzled look.

A few minutes later, the first vehicle was full, with all thirty-three seats occupied. It quickly pulled away and followed the road the Extreme Martial Arts Hall had specially built.

Their destination was City 1002, about 200 kilometers from the Training Camp. City 1001, just ahead of City 1002, was where members of the Elite Training Camp hunted monsters. Both cities were monitored by their own satellites.

A little over an hour later, the Training Camp vehicle arrived within a kilometer of City 1002. The trainees leaped out of the vehicle and quickly scattered, each heading into City 1002 to hunt monsters.

There were no Lord-level Monsters in City 1002, but plenty of high-level Beast Generals. They usually stayed in the city center, though, so as long as the trainees didn't enter their territory, they weren't in much danger.

After entering the suburbs of City 1002, Su You soon spotted two Iron-furred Wild Boars. One was an Intermediate Beast Soldier, while the other was a Primary Beast Soldier.

Su You stepped forward and killed the Intermediate Beast Soldier with a single thrust. The Primary Beast Soldier was just about to flee, but Su You sheathed his sword and swiftly moved in front of it. He dodged its two tusks, raised his arms defensively, and took its charge head-on.

With a thud, Su You was sent flying. He sailed more than ten meters before landing on his butt, looking rather battered.

The Iron-furred Wild Boar seemed stunned, too. But it was too stupid to think much of it. It simply thought it was about to enjoy a feast and charged at Su You again.

Su You quickly got to his feet and checked himself over. He didn't seem to be injured. With a practiced sequence of sidestep, thrust, and sheathe, he sent the Iron-furred Wild Boar crashing to the ground.

Normally, an Advanced Warrior had far greater physical strength than a Primary Beast Soldier, but still couldn't withstand one of their charges.

The reason was that monsters weighed far more than humans. The Primary Beast Soldier Iron-furred Wild Boar before him weighed at least twenty times as much as Su You. According to the momentum theorem, the force of its charge was enough to seriously injure an Advanced Warrior.
