The Intelligent Life?

Su You thrust his sword at Beiyuan Gang, but the man had clearly been ready for it. He stepped sharply to the left, dodging Su You's strike.

Su You changed his move in an instant, turning the thrust into a slash, but Beiyuan Gang suddenly dropped straight down and vanished from sight.

"A sand pit?" Standing where Beiyuan Gang had just been, Su You immediately spotted the opening before him, more than five meters across.

In the Sahara Desert, most monsters lived underground during the day and only came out at night, so sand pits like this weren't uncommon. Earlier, when Su You and Zhang Yue had been hunted by a pack of Sand Eagles, they'd escaped by taking shelter in one.

Zhang Yue caught up from behind and asked, "Did he escape through the sand pit?"

Su You nodded and pointed at the opening. "He took the full force of two of my attacks head-on. He can't have gotten far. I'll go down and check. I'll be back soon. Be careful up here."

After speaking quickly, Su You leaped into the sand pit. Their brief exchange had been enough for him to gauge Beiyuan Gang's strength.

Aside from having a somewhat stronger physique, Beiyuan Gang was inferior to him in every respect. If Su You was on guard, he was certain Beiyuan Gang couldn't catch him by surprise, even at full strength.

Besides, he'd already taken two blows comparable to attacks from a High-level War God. Even if he'd escaped underground, he couldn't have gotten far.

When your enemy is down, don't let him get back up. That ambush had brought Su You closer to death than anything else in his life. He had no intention of letting Beiyuan Gang go.

The sand pit didn't descend in a straight line. It wound and twisted, clearly dug out by a reptilian monster.

After descending more than five hundred meters, Su You finally passed through the sand and landed on a rock. It seemed to be a vast space formed by a bedrock fault, with an underground river about ten meters wide nearby.

Standing on the rock, Su You immediately spotted Beiyuan Gang. He was trying to escape toward the underground river, but a large swarm of Sand Pythons had surrounded him and was attacking wildly.

Su You understood at once. The sand pit must have been a passage dug by the Sand Pythons. The two of them had fallen straight into the Sand Pythons' lair.

The moment the Sand Pythons noticed Su You's arrival, many of those on the outskirts sprang toward him.

Su You shifted his stance and cut down several Sand Pythons in succession, then charged toward Beiyuan Gang.

Beiyuan Gang, fighting the Sand Pythons, spotted Su You too. But the swarm's leader had clearly realized he was gravely wounded and kept sending wave after wave of Sand Pythons to tie him down.

There were no Lord-level Monsters among the Sand Pythons, but every one of them fought without fear of death. With his injuries, Beiyuan Gang had no way to break free of their attacks.

"Just my luck!" Su You dodged several Sand Pythons, slipped behind Beiyuan Gang, and swung his sword with his right hand. At the same time, he thrust the sword in his left hand through a gap between several Sand Pythons.

Beiyuan Gang gritted his teeth and suddenly ducked, dodging Su You's slash. He spat out another mouthful of blood. He had just begun to feel relieved at having avoided the attack when he suddenly realized a sword had pierced through his throat.

"This..."

Su You twisted and pulled out the Baihong Sword in his left hand. Beiyuan Gang's head separated from his body, and the Sand Pythons immediately carried it away.

Su You whirled both swords around. The Sand Pythons rushing at him couldn't get close.

"Hissss!" The High-level Beast General Sand Python in the distance let out a hiss. The Sand Pythons around Su You scattered, leaving only him and Beiyuan Gang's corpse.

Su You chuckled. The Sand Pythons' leader was pretty clever. If it had waited any longer, he'd have gone straight for the kill.

Su You turned over Beiyuan Gang's corpse and searched it. Then he stripped off the man's combat uniform and picked up the War Blade lying nearby. He was just about to leave when he heard a beep.

"Hm?"

Strange lights suddenly appeared in the dim space beneath the bedrock. They converged in front of Su You and began to form a white, holographic figure.

The figure seemed to be a little girl. She wore an exquisite white dress that looked rather tight around her chest. She was less than a meter and a half tall, with long twin ponytails.

"XXXX..." The girl babbled on and on in a clear, ethereal voice, but Su You couldn't understand a word.

"xxxx..." The girl seemed to switch to another language, but Su You still couldn't make out what she was saying.

She switched languages more than ten times, but Su You couldn't understand a single one. He could only shrug helplessly. The girl clearly couldn't understand his fluent Chinese or his broken English either, and she was so frustrated she looked ready to explode.

"Why does her entrance remind me so much of Babata?"

"Could she be an Intelligent Life too? But why wouldn't an Intelligent Life understand any of Earth's languages?"

"Could there be another inheritance on Earth? But why hadn't Luo Feng discovered it in my memories of my previous life?"

One thought after another flashed through Su You's mind. He felt both excited and pleased, yet wary and uneasy.

As the girl babbled on, Su You suddenly thought, That Japanese man was probably sent by the Wang Family. I can't stay underground too long. If something happens to Zhang Yue, I'll be in trouble.

With that in mind, Su You gestured goodbye to the girl, using body language to tell her he was leaving.

Unexpectedly, the girl suddenly stepped in front of him and pointed at a rock nearby.

Su You blinked, walked over, and picked up the rock. Looking closely, he saw a pitch-black ring embedded in it.

The girl pointed at the black ring inside the rock, then at Su You's hand, indicating that he should take the ring out and put it on.

Su You carefully controlled his strength as he crushed the rock in his hand. After hesitating for a moment, he cautiously slipped the black ring onto his finger.

The girl made a grimacing face at Su You, then vanished like a burst bubble.

"Hm?" Su You was slightly startled. Could she really be an Intelligent Life? Is this a Space Ring or a World Ring? Could her core be inside it?

As he dragged Beiyuan Gang's corpse and quickly climbed back up, Su You recalled the description he'd read in his previous life of Luo Feng meeting Babata. Aside from not speaking any of Earth's languages, the little girl seemed similar to Babata in many ways.

"xxxx..." The girl's clear voice sounded in Su You's mind, but he'd already expected that and wasn't startled.

Every Intelligent Life could communicate with its master through consciousness. Unfortunately, it seemed that still wouldn't solve the problem of their language barrier.
