The Blue Heart Grass

After advancing nearly another ten miles, Lin Feng finally spotted a vast patch of Blue Heart Grass. The emerald leaves swayed in the breeze, rolling in waves of green that dazzled Lin Feng.

"Blue Heart Grass! It's all Blue Heart Grass!"

"Beibei, the ground within thirty meters of the Blue Heart Grass is completely bare, so I can't get any closer. I'll have to rely on you." Lin Feng spoke to Beibei through Soul Transmission.

"Leave it to me, boss!"

A black blur flashed across the ground. In the blink of an eye, Beibei had darted to the middle of the Blue Heart Grass patch. His little claws worked nimbly and mercilessly, "plundering" the plants. He waved both paws, and the center of the patch was soon stripped bare, with a pile of Blue Heart Grass nearly as tall as he was stacked beside him.

"Beibei, that's enough. Come back, quick!" Seeing that Beibei had already uprooted fifty or sixty stalks, Lin Feng hurried him along.

Beibei looked up at Lin Feng. Then his cute little nose wrinkled. "No rush. I'm still short a bunch."

Just then, a Velociraptor drinking by the river glanced over. Its gaze fell on Beibei. It had clearly spotted him, because it rose onto its feet from where it had been crouching to drink. Its cold eyes fixed on Beibei.

"That greedy Beibei got spotted by the Velociraptor after all."

If Beibei started fighting the Velociraptor, it might draw other magical beasts over. That would spell trouble. There were simply too many magical beasts in this valley!

Beibei noticed the Velociraptor, too. He looked toward it, then seemed to grow frightened and hid beside the little pile of Blue Heart Grass, "shivering."

"Roar!" The Velociraptor gave a smug cry, then crouched down again and went back to drinking contentedly by the river.

"What a big dummy. It's so easy to fool him." Beibei said smugly through Soul Transmission.

Lin Feng could only laugh helplessly. He hadn't expected Beibei to know how to "act weak." With Beibei's current strength, dealing with a Velociraptor would be child's play.

"Impressive." Lin Feng gave Beibei a thumbs-up.

Beibei smiled proudly. "Naturally. I'm Beibei, the cleverest magical beast rat around." Then he glanced at the little pile of Blue Heart Grass, which stood a little taller than he did, and his body suddenly swelled, growing from twenty centimeters long to nearly half a meter.

Now that he was bigger, Beibei easily gathered the pile of Blue Heart Grass in his forepaws. Then he kicked off with his hind legs—whoosh!

Beibei landed in the grass, right beside Lin Feng.

"Boss, I got a hundred and sixty stalks of Blue Heart Grass in total. When I, Beibei, get involved, nothing can stop me." Beibei proudly puffed out his little chest.

Lin Feng affectionately stroked Beibei's little head, then put all the Blue Heart Grass into his Space Ring.

With the Blue Heart Grass in hand, the next step was to head to the underground cave, kill the Spined Iron-Armored Dragon, and then drink its fresh blood to awaken the Dragonblood Warrior bloodline in his body. While he was at it, he would get the Violet Blood Soft Sword, too.

Once he had made up his mind, Lin Feng and Beibei continued onward, sneaking toward the area where the elemental forces were denser.

The closer Lin Feng got to the cave entrance, the stronger the magical beasts he encountered became: Level Eight Velociraptors, Level Nine Wyverns, and so on. But since Lin Feng had known what to expect, he avoided them well in advance each time and remained undetected.

Looking up at the Wyverns of every element blotting out the sky, Lin Feng felt his scalp prickle. "These are all Level Eight and Level Nine magical beasts. I wonder how Lin Feng survived being attacked by so many Wyverns back then."

Suddenly, a huge fireball dropped from the sky and hurtled toward Lin Feng.

Sensing danger, Lin Feng jerked his head up. As he watched the fireball grow larger and larger, only one thought crossed his mind: "I've been spotted!"

Since he'd been spotted, Lin Feng stopped trying to hide. He immediately rolled across the ground, dodging the fireball, then bolted toward the cave entrance. Lin Feng knew that once he made it inside, he'd be safe. Facing a single Level Nine Spined Iron-Armored Dragon would be easier than taking on a whole flock of Level Eight and Level Nine Wyverns.

Lin Feng's wishful thinking clashed with the harsh reality. He was still at least four or five hundred meters from the cave entrance. At his current speed as a Level Seven warrior, even with the aid of wind magic, it would take him at least ten seconds to reach it. Ten seconds might not seem long, but the Wyverns overhead weren't fools. They wouldn't just let Lin Feng run to the entrance without trying to stop him.

More than a hundred Fire Dragons completely covered the sky. Dozens of them opened their gaping jaws in unison, wide enough to swallow a person whole, and spat out one fireball after another, hurling them at Lin Feng below.

"Boom!" "Boom!" "Boom!" "Boom!"

Huge fireballs, each nearly as tall as Lin Feng, rained from the sky. The fireballs from the Level Eight Fire Dragons were no ordinary magic. They contained not only magic but also the dragons' own fiery breath. Their heat was so intense that even a Level Seven Velociraptor's armor would probably crack and burn.

"Bam!"

A large fireball grazed Lin Feng and struck the ground beside him. As he fled, Lin Feng immediately smelled singed hair.

"Boss, your hair's on fire." Beibei's voice sounded in Lin Feng's mind.

But Lin Feng knew his hair wasn't actually burning. The fireball was simply so hot that its heat had singed his hair as it passed.

Lin Feng darted around like an agile monkey, constantly changing direction and dodging the fireballs one after another.

The Fire Dragons didn't swarm him and kill him outright. Instead, they toyed with him, tormenting him with fireballs.

The fireballs completely blocked Lin Feng's path forward. Wave after wave roared toward him as if they cost nothing.

"Damn it! If I don't show you what I can do, you'll think I'm a pushover!"

Lin Feng was furious. The Fire Dragons' mocking tactics had thoroughly enraged him.

"Earth Guardian Sacred Armor, rise!"

Lin Feng waved at the Fire Dragons in the sky. Yellow-brown magical elements swirled around him as he roared, "I'll show you what happens when you fly! Get down here!"

"Roar!" "Roar!" "Roar!"

The Wyverns had been enjoying themselves when they suddenly felt their bodies grow heavy and began falling toward the ground. They cried out in alarm, and their attacks stopped at the same time.

Lin Feng hadn't cast Gravity Spell intending to bring the Wyverns down. He only wanted to catch them off guard and buy himself time to escape.

"Now's my chance!"

Seeing the barrage of fireballs stop, Lin Feng immediately pushed his speed to the limit and raced toward the cave entrance, now visible in the distance.

"Haha, boss, I never thought I'd see you in such a sorry state." Beibei's teasing voice rang in Lin Feng's mind.

"Don't gloat. If you're so tough, why don't you try it?" Lin Feng shot Beibei a look without slowing down.

After all, the Level Eight and Level Nine Wyverns were high-level magical beasts. Although Lin Feng was a peak Level Nine mage, his Gravity Spell covered too wide an area to be as effective as it should have been. The Wyverns quickly recovered.

As Level Nine magical beasts, Wyverns were every bit as intelligent as humans. They soon understood Lin Feng's intentions. At the sound of their roars, an even wider barrage of fireballs came crashing down toward him.

"Boom!"

A dragonflame fireball slammed into Lin Feng and burst apart. Yellow-brown light flashed rapidly across the surface of his Jade Battle Armor, then with a "pop," the armor turned into a mass of Earth Element particles and vanished.

"You big lizards, just wait! I'll come back and settle the score with you sooner or later. I'll give every one of you a taste of your own medicine." Lin Feng cursed the unscrupulous Wyverns, silently vowing to get even.

The cave entrance was close now. Lin Feng gritted his teeth and pushed himself to go even faster. After taking three fireballs head-on, he finally broke through and made it into the underground cave.
