Lin Feng pulled Delia along to Dormitory 1987, where Yale, George, and Reynolds were all waiting. As brothers meeting again, there was naturally no shortage of pleasantries. Of course, due to Delia's arrival, Lin Feng was teased quite a bit by the trio.
"Third brother, you brought Delia here, surely you want her to see that stone sculpture of yours," Yale said, looking at Lin Feng with a teasing expression. "To make sure the sister-in-law was surprised, I kept it strictly confidential from her until now."
"What stone sculpture?" Delia's curiosity was piqued by Yale's words, and she asked hurriedly.
"This sculpture is extraordinary. If you see it, you will definitely be pleasantly surprised. But as for what it actually is, you'll know once you see it," Yale continued with a smile.
"Alright, Boss, stop teasing Delia. Just tell us where you put the sculpture and take us there!" Lin Feng glanced at the impatient Delia and said to Yale.
Hualie Hotel!
The moment Delia saw the sculpture "Love" with her own eyes, she was instantly stunned. She could feel the love Lin Feng held for her radiating from the piece—so intense, so passionate.
Delia stared blankly at the five lifelike versions of "herself" before her, each sculpture imbued with a unique essence.
As Delia gazed at the sculpture, scenes from her past with Lin Feng involuntarily flooded her mind: the first time in their freshman magic class, when Lin Feng had looked at her with a mischievous smirk.
There were also the moments in the Magical Beast Mountain Range, where the two had held each other close, whispering sweet nothings.
As scene after scene emerged, Delia was completely dumbfounded. She truly hadn't expected that such a breathtakingly beautiful sculpture had been modeled after her.
"Lin, Lin Feng..." Delia was deeply moved, unable to find the words to express her feelings at that moment.
Taking a deep breath, she finally asked softly, "What is the name of this sculpture?"
"Love!"
"Is it called 'Love'? Is this what love is?" Delia murmured to herself, finally understanding her own heart in that moment. So, the constant longing and worry she had been feeling was "Love" all along!
Suddenly, Delia felt a flash of inspiration, a sense of clarity washing over her. Her spiritual energy, which had long been stagnant, surged violently, crossing the peak of the sixth rank and stepping into the seventh rank, only stopping once it reached the peak of the seventh rank.
As a Saint-level Magus, Lin Feng could naturally sense Delia's physical state. He hadn't expected that merely seeing this sculpture would cause her spiritual energy to skyrocket by an entire level; her comprehension was no less than his own.
"Congratulations, Delia!" Lin Feng's joy at Delia's breakthrough was heartfelt.
Delia was only sixteen, yet she had already reached the peak of a seventh-rank Great Magus. At this rate, with her own efforts, reaching the Saint-level in the future would not be difficult. Delia could finally avoid the fate of needing to refine a godhead to become a god as described in the original book.
"I love you, Lin Feng!" Delia leaned into Lin Feng's arms with a tender expression.
As for Yale, George, and Reynolds, who were left on the sidelines, they had no idea what had just happened, assuming only that Delia and Lin Feng were simply expressing their deep affection for one another.
"Alright, alright, Lin Feng, isn't that a bit mushy? The three of us bachelors are still standing right here; you and your sister-in-law need to consider our feelings too."
Unable to watch any longer, Reynolds finally spoke up to interrupt the exchange of love between Lin Feng and Delia.
Lin Feng and Delia looked embarrassed; they had truly forgotten about Yale and the others just now.
Inside a private room at the Hualie Hotel.
Lin Feng, Yale, George, and Reynolds sat casually on either side of a long rectangular table, with Delia snuggled up beside Lin Feng. Over a dozen exquisite dishes were arranged in pairs on the table, with plenty of fruit wine and spirits set alongside them. The four brothers were currently drinking fruit wine and talking about what had happened during this period.
"Lin Feng, you should have gone to the Magical Beast Mountain Range after the year-end test last year. Dixie finally reached the sixth-rank magus level in his test, but you didn't participate at all. Some people say you aren't as good as Dixie, though only we know you had long since reached the sixth-rank magus realm," Reynolds said with a sense of injustice.
Lin Feng took a sip of fruit wine and smiled slightly.
A sixth-rank magus?
As a Saint-level Magus, Lin Feng had long since forgotten what it felt like to be a sixth-rank magus. Ever since he first entered the hall of Flat Blade carving, his spiritual energy growth rate had been like a rocket, a speed that would make ordinary magi collapse in despair.
"Fourth brother, you know how Third brother is; he doesn't care about such things. If he did, he wouldn't have skipped the grade competitions every year," Yale said with a chuckle. "By the way, Third brother, at the beginning of this semester, your Uncle Hillman came to the school."
Lin Feng paused, looked at Yale, and immediately asked, "Uncle Hillman? Was there something the matter?"
Though he asked this, Lin Feng secretly guessed in his heart: Perhaps my father has passed away.
The reason he had chosen to spend the New Year in the Magical Beast Mountain Range was, in a way, an act of avoidance. He was afraid that if he stayed at the academy, he wouldn't be able to stop himself from going to the Duke Paland Mansion to prevent his father from throwing his life away. He naturally didn't want his father to die, but he also didn't want his father to live in agony. Caught between these two thoughts, Lin Feng had chosen to escape, or perhaps, to let things take their natural course.
"It was nothing much, probably just worried because you didn't go home for the New Year," Yale said casually, then continued, "Oh, right. There is one thing I must tell you. On the day your Uncle Hillman came, the head curator of the Proulx Gallery also arrived, all for the sake of your sculpture, 'Love'."
Lin Feng was surprised: "The head curator? How did he know about my sculpture 'Love'?"
At this point, Reynolds said sheepishly: "That's my fault. When Yale sent people to bring your sculpture back from the back mountain, I didn't think anyone else knew how precious it was, so we just left it in the dormitory. We could admire it from time to time. But I didn't expect that Austoni fellow to come looking for you and end up in our dorm, where he happened to see your sculpture 'Love'. Later, he was the one who told Curator Maia about its existence."
Lin Feng nodded slightly.
"Lin Feng, the head curator wants you to auction off this sculpture 'Love'. Even if you don't auction it, he wants to put 'Love' on display at the Proulx Gallery. Will you agree?" Yale looked at Lin Feng.
Lin Feng shook his head without the slightest hesitation.
"Auctioning 'Love' is absolutely out of the question. As for whether it will be displayed at the Proulx Gallery, that depends on Delia's wishes." Lin Feng looked at Delia, waiting for her decision.
Yale and the others also turned their gazes toward Delia, wanting to see what she thought.
Delia looked up and glanced at Lin Feng, but she couldn't read anything from his eyes. After a moment of contemplation, she said slowly: "It might be good to put it on display. That way, it could also help build Lin Feng's reputation in the world of stone sculpture."
In truth, Delia had another reason for wanting to display the sculpture "Love." The piece perfectly expressed the love between Lin Feng and her; anyone who wasn't a fool could feel the deep affection Lin Feng held for her. It could be said that once this sculpture was made public, their relationship would be fully exposed, and by then, the whole world would become the matchmaker for her and Lin Feng.
"Since that's the case, I'll send someone to contact Curator Maia immediately to arrange the exhibition for 'Love'," Yale said at once.
