Chapter: Upgrade of the Eye of Destiny
Meanwhile, Huo Yuhao had just finished demonstrating Spiritual Detection Sharing to Xuan Ziwen.
"You actually possess such a skill." Xuan Ziwen was slightly shocked. He had read the student files this time, and although these students were highly recommended by Jing Hongchen, his standards were incredibly high.
Because of this, he had also noted that Huo Yuhao's file indicated he was from the Heaven Dou Empire.
"I think the Hall Master should be thankful you aren't a spy from the Heavenly Soul." Xuan Ziwen chuckled. "Otherwise, you would have likely seen all the soul tool technology in this academy and handed it over to the soul engineer academy of the Heavenly Soul."
"As far as I know, the Heaven Dou Empire doesn't have a decent soul engineer academy." Huo Yuhao smiled knowingly.
"My ancestral home is actually in the Heaven Dou Empire." Having acknowledged Huo Yuhao's ability, Xuan Ziwen naturally opened up. As he continued his work, he said, "There are many reasons for immigrating to the Sun Moon, and for me, being able to utilize soul tools freely is a very important part of it. Why did you come?"
"I'll be honest with you, Teacher. I'm not actually from the Heaven Dou Empire; I just relied on Wang Dong to obtain an exit permit from there." Huo Yuhao decided to reveal a portion of the truth. "I was born in Star Luo, but unfortunately, I ended up with an irresponsible father. I only left after my mother passed away. Because of my family situation, I didn't really have a home, and I couldn't stay in the three Douluo nations. It just so happened that I met friends like Chi Qiu and Wang Dong, so I came here to study with them."
"That can be considered fate." Xuan Ziwen sighed. "At the very least, the Sun Moon Imperial Soul Engineer Academy generally doesn't ask about one's background, only one's ability. However, there seems to be some talk recently, though I don't know the specifics."
"What happened?" Huo Yuhao vaguely guessed it had something to do with Wang Dong being provoked that day, as Xiao Hongchen's expression had been very unpleasant.
"I heard Zimu and the others mention it once; it seems they are re-investigating the backgrounds of some students." Xuan Ziwen didn't seem very concerned about the topic. "The students probably know more than I do; I haven't left the laboratory building in quite a while."
The corners of Huo Yuhao's mouth twitched slightly; this Teacher Xuan was truly a research fanatic. However, he was very happy to have such a teacher guiding him. If one were to talk about fanatics, he could certainly be considered a fanatic for learning and cultivation himself.
At the same time, he noticed out of the corner of his eye that Juzi had stiffened slightly when they brought up this topic.
Under normal circumstances, he definitely wouldn't have noticed such a detail that no one else could perceive; but since someone had warned him not to get too close to Juzi, it kept him on guard against this young girl at all times. He felt sorry for this, but he preferred to trust the voice in his own mind.
However, noticing this detail now, Huo Yuhao's mindset underwent a subtle change. Perhaps there really was something wrong, after all.
Wang Shaojie interrupted their conversation: "Hmph, it's one thing for that Xiao Hongchen to be arrogant, but he's actually participating in this? Does he really think he's someone important? How old is he, anyway?"
Zimu also spoke up: "If it weren't for his relationship with Dean Jing Hongchen, he would probably have been beaten up by those five or six-ringers already. He's only at the four-ring level right now."
"Anyway, if he tries to investigate me, I won't acknowledge it," said the girl named Keke. "I'll only listen if a teacher investigates me."
Juzi, however, remained silent.
Huo Yuhao spoke up with some hesitation: "Uh... it seems everyone doesn't have a very high opinion of Brother Xiao?"
"Even his own sister looks down on him." After Wang Shaojie finished speaking, he spat into the trash can.
"Mind your hygiene," Xuan Ziwen scolded, but he didn't stop them from continuing to discuss Xiao Hongchen.
"And you still call him 'Brother'!" Keke turned around and leaned over her chair. "He's only fourteen, right? Junior Brother Huo, you're almost twelve, aren't you? I don't see much difference between you two; you're both just kids, he's just more full of himself."
"He is a bit full of himself, indeed..." Huo Yuhao touched his ear; he felt that Xiao Hongchen was actually a decent person.
But the fact that even Xuan Ziwen didn't stop everyone from talking about Jing Hongchen's grandson like this meant that Xiao Hongchen's overall reputation in the academy... was really not very good.
Just as everyone was busy working and chatting, the laboratory door was knocked on again. A familiar voice came from outside:
"Teacher Xuan, it's Teacher Yu. My student needs to see Huo Yuhao, right now."
"Understood. Yuhao, go see your classmate." In a short time, Xuan Ziwen's way of addressing Huo Yuhao had become quite affectionate.
"Understood." Huo Yuhao bowed slightly and hurried to the door. The only person who would be in such a rush to find him had to be Chi Qiu.
Sure enough, as soon as he opened the door, he saw that familiar, beautiful golden hair. However, he felt that the Chi Qiu before him seemed to have undergone some kind of change.
"Yuhao, come with me." Chi Qiu grabbed him and started walking away.
"Qiu'er?" Huo Yuhao was dragged a few steps, looking bewildered, and hurriedly gestured to Yu Rufeng. "Teacher Yu, um, I'm leaving first!"
"Go ahead." Yu Rufeng nodded.
Although he didn't know why Chi Qiu was calling for Huo Yuhao so urgently, Yu Rufeng didn't ask any questions for the time being. He guessed that his own soul skill might have triggered some power within Chi Qiu, and perhaps they were rushing off to perform a Martial Soul Fusion Skill.
What he didn't know was that Huo Yuhao and Chi Qiu already possessed a Martial Soul Fusion Skill.
"The small woods again?" Huo Yuhao glanced at the surrounding pines and cypresses. "Qiu'er, what unspeakable power do you have to share with me this time?"
"What kind of way is that to talk?" Chi Qiu looked at him with dissatisfaction. "What do you mean by 'unspeakable power'?"
"Exactly what it sounds like." Huo Yuhao smiled. "After all, your identity isn't something you can let just anyone know. Is Wang Dong not here?"
"I didn't call her for this. She has special training arranged by Teacher Yu in a moment."
"Special training? You were both called for special training by Teacher Yu?" Huo Yuhao was a bit surprised, but he quickly understood; it was within reason.
"You're included too," Chi Qiu said. "You're going to be busy now: second-year classes, Teacher Xuan's training, and Teacher Yu's training."
"It doesn't matter; as long as I can learn something, it's good." Huo Yuhao didn't seem to mind the intensity being placed upon him.
"So, Qiu'er, what power are you going to share with me?"
Chi Qiu pressed on his shoulders, keeping him at arm's length. "Look at this," she said.
Following that, golden light flickered on her forehead, and her martial soul was released. Huo Yuhao's expression immediately froze; the aura released from the vertical eye atop Chi Qiu's head was vastly different from before.
If the previous power of destiny had been domineering yet somewhat gentle, then what was being released from that third eye now was a sense of absolute pressure, and the vertical eye had turned completely blood-red.
"Qiu'er, this is..." Huo Yuhao exclaimed in wonder.
Facing this pressure, Huo Yuhao not only felt no strain, but he was also deeply moved by the evolution of Chi Qiu's power. This was because he did not feel a single shred of hostility within that pressure.
"The result of the special training." Chi Qiu was vague. "I'm also going to give your Eye of Destiny an upgrade."
Huo Yuhao immediately understood and opened his third eye, which glowed with a jade-green light. The moment the two colors converged, a dazzling radiance bloomed between them like a flower in full blossom.
A massive tide had already surged within the Sea of Consciousness of Huo Yuhao, but thanks to the presence of Sky Dream Ice Silkworm, it was kept from becoming too turbulent. However, Tian Meng did not resist this tide, as he could see that it would only bring benefits to Huo Yuhao, not harm.
Above the Sea of Consciousness, the volume of that jade-green sun had actually expanded to more than double its original size.
Huo Yuhao carefully sensed this power that Chi Qiu was merging with him; although he did not know its origin, the ancient aura contained within it still left his mind shaken.
"Qiu'er, are you undergoing some kind of special training? This feels like a fortuitous encounter!" Huo Yuhao could not help but say.
"Do I even need fortuitous encounters? I am the Emperor Lucky Beast, after all."
"Then I'll have to rely on you to rub off some of that luck onto me, Qiu'er," Huo Yuhao joked.
I am in a great mood today, so here is an extra chapter.
