Background / History
Clear Sky Sect upbringing
Wang Dong grows up under Niu Tian and Titan, whom she calls Big Father and Second Father. They originally direct her toward power-attack cultivation and arrange her early butterfly soul rings in the sect’s secret realm. She tells Liu Xi that she has never seen her father since birth 74 146.
Her childhood memories are incomplete, particularly those from before age seven. Niu Tian later acknowledges that her half-soul grew and became sound under their care, and that her upbringing involved arrangements left by another person 145 151.
Meeting Huo Yuhao and Chi Qiu
Outside Shrek City, Wang Dong challenges Huo Yuhao and Chi Qiu together to test their strength. Huo Yuhao’s detection-sharing allows the pair to anticipate her movements, and she surrenders when Chi Qiu’s Golden Dragon Spear stops three inches from her brow. After recognizing their abilities, she obtains recommendation letters for them 4 5.
Chi Qiu identifies her as a girl before Wang Dong openly reveals her disguise. At Shrek, Wang Dong becomes Huo Yuhao’s roommate in Room 108 and accepts his request for a curtain between their beds 5 6.
When Ma Xiaotao attacks the trio with uncontrolled flames, Wang Dong tries to carry both friends to safety. The heat destroys her manifested wings and renders her unconscious before she can escape 8.
Changing paths and leaving Shrek
The freshman assessment allows only one power-attack Soul Master per team. Rather than compete against Chi Qiu, Wang Dong changes her cultivation method toward agility-attack so they can remain teammates. During the assessment, she gathers information on opposing teams and uses Huo Yuhao’s guidance to remove vulnerable opponents 10 11 12.
After her friends leave for the Extreme North, Wang Dong faces pressure from Zhou Yi and hostility from Dai Huabin. On returning with her third ring, she hears that Shrek intends to expel Huo Yuhao and Chi Qiu. Her withdrawal request is refused, so she insults Dean Yan, Director Du, and Zhou Yi until the academy expels her instead 16.
Blacklisted by academies across the Douluo Three Kingdoms, she proposes studying in the Sun Moon Empire. She researches the available schools, plans their route, and obtains exit permits for the trio 16 17.
A new education in Sun Moon
At Sun Moon Imperial Soul Engineer Academy, Wang Dong registers as female at her friends’ insistence. Her masculine presentation initially causes confusion in the girls’ dormitory, where Chi Qiu helps establish that she belongs there 20 23.
Wang Dong initially struggles with soul-tool calculations, but Yu Rufeng recognizes her potential. He gives her access to an auxiliary cultivation room, trains her combat skills, and equips her with propulsion tools. Liu Xi later becomes her specialist agility teacher, correcting the power-attack habits that persist beneath her new cultivation route 22 29 32 74.
Her guardians send a letter urging her to return home and reveal that they have secretly assigned someone to protect her. Resenting the surveillance, Wang Dong replies that she will not return until she has achieved academic success 75.
Despite her adverse reactions to soul tools, she designs an alchemy furnace that Yu Rufeng praises and helps construct. He then begins teaching her alchemy 100.
Discovering the butterfly clan’s fate
Chi Qiu reveals that a soul fragment entered her Sea of Consciousness after their first meeting. The Golden Dragon King identifies it as connected to Wang Dong, and the fragment resonates with her. Wang Dong nevertheless insists that they are no longer the same person and refuses immediate fusion 144 145 146.
Investigating her early rings takes her back to the Clear Sky Sect. In the rear mountain’s secret realm, she encounters Xiao Lan, a hundred-thousand-year Radiant Goddess Butterfly. Xiao Lan accuses her of possessing a martial soul created through the forced sacrifice of millions of butterflies 148 149 150.
Wang Dong survives the confrontation by explaining that her own soul and martial soul are incomplete, raising the possibility that she is another victim. She also realizes that the “light-attribute soul beasts” used for her early rings were manifestations of the butterfly clan’s life force 150.
She negotiates Xiao Lan’s departure from the realm and promises an Equal Contract once she can obtain her sixth ring. Xiao Lan reveals that the apparent butterfly population consists of the souls of her dead kin, maintained as companions. Wang Dong takes her down the mountain and introduces her to Huo Yuhao 152 153 185.
Tang Xiaoqi and the cocoon transformation
While traveling with Yin Shuang, Wang Dong carries the God Sealing Platform containing the separated fragment. She begins seeing a pink-blue-haired girl who introduces herself as Tang Xiaoqi; Yin Shuang cannot detect the apparition 185.
During Wang Dong’s contract with Xiao Lan, Tang Xiaoqi identifies the impurities in her martial soul as a memory fragment. Wang Dong witnesses a memory of Tang San separating Tang Xiaoqi from her body and confronts the possibility that the Sea God and Asura God is her father 188.
Tang Xiaoqi urges her to fuse and become Tang Wutong, the identity Tang San intended. Wang Dong instead attacks the phantom with Death Butterfly Dance. After emerging with an evolved martial soul, she finds that the phantom has survived 188 189.
Later competition and operations
In the later tournament, Wang Dong demonstrates the results of four years of agility training. She defeats Xiao Xiao with her fourth skill, then fights Bei Bei using propulsion tools, strengthened light attacks, and her sixth-ring combination. Bei Bei withstands Death Butterfly Dance by transforming into the Bright Holy Dragon 207 208.
She also supports operations against Evil Soul Masters. Xiao Hongchen rescues her from a seven-ring spiritual attacker, and she later works with Yin Shuang to monitor events around Mingdu’s imperial city 222 237.
Her alchemy develops into practical pill testing: she uses Bei Bei to evaluate soul-power-stabilizing pills. During a subsequent negotiation, she demonstrates her speed by placing a pair of Level 8 daggers against his throat before observers can clearly follow her movement 260 263.
Appearance
Wang Dong initially presents as a boy with short, spiky powder-blue hair. Without the disguise, her appearance includes pink-blue hair and eyes 4 15 227.
- Butterfly wings: Initially blue-gold; after contracting with Xiao Lan, they become twice as large, with smoother, lighter curves 4 189.
- Collarbone mark: A Light Goddess Butterfly mark remains after her transformation 189.
- Transformation hair: The cocoon produces ground-length hair, blue at the roots and gradually pink toward the ends. She immediately cuts it with Blue Scale Feather Blade 189.
- Flight trail: Her evolved wings shed light mist and leave faint golden trails while excess soul power escapes 189.
Personality
Wang Dong is sociable, playful, and openly self-confident. She readily talks with unfamiliar classmates, gathers tournament intelligence through conversation, and enjoys teasing her friends. Her competitive confidence adjusts quickly when she encounters Chi Qiu’s superior strength 4 11 23 160.
Her relaxed habits coexist with growing determination. Initially described as a lazybones, she commits to demanding agility training and continues studying soul tools despite headaches and other adverse reactions. Her departure from Shrek and resistance to her guardians’ surveillance reflect a strong desire to choose her own education and future 12 16 25 75 100 119.
She is protective but expects trust in return. She becomes angry on learning about Huo Yuhao’s grievance against Dai Huabin, challenges Xiao Hongchen’s habit of concealing distress, and objects when her friends undertake dangerous work without telling her. She can also acknowledge fault and apologize after an emotional outburst 12 145 204 233.
Abilities & Skills
Radiant Goddess Butterfly
Her primary martial soul combines flight, light-element attacks, and cutting wings. Its early incompleteness is linked to the butterfly clan’s exploitation and the absence of Xiao Lan’s bloodline; their contract substantially strengthens it 150 152 189 208.
- First skill — Wing Guillotine: Hardens the wings and gives their edges a sharp golden coating. Greater speed increases its striking power; Wang Dong also uses it as a relatively low-consumption shield 12 32 150.
- Second skill — Light of the Butterfly Goddess: Releases concentrated light from beneath her wings. She can divide its large light sphere into smaller attacks for coordinated bombardment 12 68.
- Post-contract light attacks: Her second skill becomes powerful enough to repel Bei Bei’s enhanced Thunder Dragon Claw and interrupt Xu Sanshi’s Mysterious Underworld Displacement 208 210.
- Third skill — Blue Scale Feather Blade: Fires small, sharp blades of wing powder, with effectiveness tied to flight speed. The blades can cut hard materials and injure even a Soul Saint who has not activated martial soul true body 32.
- Fourth skill — Flowing Light Flying Rainbow: Converts her body into cutting, flowing light that damages targets along her route and grants immunity to many physical and energy attacks. It can operate alongside Blue Scale Feather Blade, but consumes considerable soul power 122 150.
- Sixth-ring skill — Light Lock: Combined with Flowing Light Flying Rainbow, provides a locked destination and light-speed movement, functioning much like targeted instantaneous movement 208.
- Sixth-ring skill — Death Butterfly Dance: Summons hundreds or thousands of blue butterfly phantoms to cut a target. Its full combination can incapacitate an unprepared opponent of the same rank, though Bei Bei withstands it with his Bright Holy Dragon transformation 188 208.
Clear Sky Hammer
Wang Dong reveals the Clear Sky Hammer as her second martial soul while exchanging secrets with Huo Yuhao and Chi Qiu 18.
- She generally relies on her butterfly martial soul in documented competitions, explicitly stating that one martial soul is sufficient during reserve-team selection 34.
- No hammer-specific soul skills are documented in the supplied account.
Agility-attack combat
Her fighting style develops from a mid-course conversion rather than an exclusively agility-based foundation. The resulting combination retains two power-attack skills while emphasizing movement and instantaneous damage 32 208.
- Uses aerial repositioning and feather-blade attacks to kite defensive opponents 57.
- Completes exhausting basic agility drills without her martial soul, followed by combined wing-and-thruster speed training 119.
- Becomes fast enough that Bei Bei repeatedly targets only her afterimages 208.
- Coordinates light attacks with Xiao Hongchen’s wide-area cannon fire 68.
- Uses speed to distract Long Xiaoyao during a group spar 165.
Alchemy and soul-tool design
Yu Rufeng identifies talent in her alchemy-furnace design despite her limited experience and soul-tool allergy 100.
- Designs a furnace that Yu Rufeng helps build 100.
- Learns alchemy under his instruction 100.
- Later tests soul-power-stabilizing pills on Bei Bei 260.
Limitations and vulnerabilities
- Soul-tool reactions: Certain tools and related topics trigger severe headaches or fainting. She continues her studies despite the risk; the condition does not prevent her from successfully using propulsion tools 23 25 32 73.
- Spiritual control: She has accumulated spiritual power but lacks refined control because she has not prioritized its cultivation 188.
- Spiritual attacks: A seven-ring Evil Soul Master’s Fear Scream overwhelms her, requiring outside intervention 222.
- Overwhelming heat: Ma Xiaotao’s flames destroy her manifested wings and leave her unconscious 8.
- Same-bloodline suppression: Xiao Lan’s power initially places her butterfly martial soul under extreme pressure 150.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Storage soul tool / ring — Carries maps, luggage, and equipment; its practical usefulness marks an early change in her attitude toward soul tools 17 73.
- Level 5 Soul Guidance Thrusters — Two six-pointed-star tools made by Xiao Hongchen and fitted near her shoulder blades by Yu Rufeng 32 34.
- Level 6 Soul Guidance Thruster — Later supplied by Xiao Hongchen; she withstands its pressure through her exceptional mobility and training 119 208.
- Level 8 paired daggers — Tournament-victory rewards suited to agility attackers. The short blades can connect by a chain 73 263.
- Trigger-type defensive tools — A Level 7 shield saves her from Xiao Lan’s attack; a later Level 3 model optimized by Huo Yuhao and Xiao Hongchen provides protection at negligible soul-power cost 150 208.
- Alchemy furnace — Built with Yu Rufeng’s help from her own design 100.
- God Sealing Platform — Carries the separated soul fragment during her journey with Yin Shuang 185.

- Yu Rufeng — Teacher and alchemy mentor. Recognizes her technical potential, trains her, and helps adapt soul tools to her fighting style 22 29 32 100.
- Liu Xi / Xi Xi — Specialist agility mentor. Their shared history of leaving Shrek helps them bond, while Liu Xi corrects Wang Dong’s power-attack mindset 74 119.
- Niu Tian — Big Father and guardian. His affection conflicts with the arrangements he is expected to uphold; he eventually concludes that they should listen to her 75 151 153.
- Titan — Second Father and guardian. Proud of her growth but reluctant to let her leave; Wang Dong asks him to trust her and allow greater freedom 148 153.
- Xiao Lan — Contracted Radiant Goddess Butterfly partner. Their relationship develops from lethal hostility into cooperation against a common enemy; Xiao Lan’s bloodline strengthens Wang Dong’s martial soul 150 152 185 188.
- Xiao Zi — Light-attribute dragon partner associated with her fifth ring. Recognizes and cooperates with her companions 154 155.
- Yin Shuang — Ally who helps separate the soul fragment, accompanies her to the Star Dou Great Forest, and works with her in Mingdu 146 185 237.
- Tang Xiaoqi — Phantom connected to the soul fragment and martial-soul impurities. Pressures Wang Dong to fuse into Tang Wutong, but Wang Dong rejects the proposed identity 185 188 189.
- Tang San — Possible father and figure implicated in her soul’s manipulation. Wang Dong witnesses his separation of Tang Xiaoqi from her body, but her precise relationship to him remains a question in the documented account 188.
- Bei Bei — Tournament opponent and later pill-testing subject. Their battle demonstrates her evolved light abilities; she subsequently tests stabilizing pills on him 208 260.
