At that moment, Smith and the other test subjects had their consciousnesses transferred into the newly manufactured Mini Robots.
"English? You speak English?!" The robot scrambled to his feet, excited.
Smith was excited too. Was this a reunion with someone from back home? Huh? Wait, why did that voice sound so familiar?
Only then did he realize that they weren't actually "speaking." No sound came out at all. It was more as though they were "hearing" each other's voices through some form of telepathy.
"Wait! Are you from New Jersey... are you human?" Smith asked tentatively.
"Huh? That voice? Could you be Commander Smith?" The robot's surprised reply stunned Smith.
"You... could you be David?" Smith asked in disbelief.
David was his executive officer. They knew each other's voices all too well.
"Commander, what's going on? Why have we turned into this?" David asked, staring blankly at his hands.
"I don't know either, but look at our appearance. Doesn't it remind you of something?" Smith asked, rubbing his chin.
"The robots' appearance? Oh, right! I remember! We look a lot like those underwater robots that surrounded us!" David realized.
"And we also match the rumored image of the Ghost Captain-a skeleton with pointed ears! Maybe... they're a race like this?
"I'm wondering whether our souls were extracted after we were captured, and then we were turned into members of their race. Just like... what happened in Skyline?"
"N-no way, right? Wouldn't that mean we could never become human again?" David felt as though the future had gone completely dark.
"Stay calm. We'll find a way. But if the two of us ended up like this after being captured, what about everyone else aboard the USS Florida?" Smith thought of his other subordinates.
Just then, the door to that strange metal
