Nie Yun's avatar stood blank-faced before the Gravity Bomb.
Although the Gravity Bomb looked exactly the same as before, three little silver spiders had appeared inside it, clicking their way along its complex circuitry as they searched and scanned.
Whenever they encountered a device whose operating principles Nie Yun could not decipher, they simply went up and ate it, then quickly reconstructed it. Afterward, the little spiders continued onward in search of their next worthwhile target...
With America's research data as a foundation, Nie Yun made rapid progress analyzing the peripheral equipment. About ten minutes later, the three little spiders converged before the all-important spherical control core.
"Time for the main course!" At Nie Yun's command, they all turned liquid and clung to the core like climbing ivy, beginning an all-out effort to eat into it. Three little silver spots slowly spread across the spherical core...
The basic principle behind the force-field shield was a high-energy graviton layer that could effectively prevent energy and matter from penetrating it, forcing attacks to curve around the target.
From the perspective of wave-particle duality, radio waves were actually a form of energy particles too, and fell within the shield's blocking range. As a result, the bomb America had installed could not receive its detonation signal at all.
But the means by which Nie Yun communicated with the Mechanical Insects was clearly far more advanced than radio communication. Once he confirmed that the Mechanical Insects remained under his control even after entering the shield, he breathed a deep sigh of relief.
Clearly, this high-energy graviton layer could not sever his connection with the Mechanical Insects. That meant the outcome was already decided.
An hour later, Nie Yun's avatar shuddered and regained consciousness.
