Time flew, and half a month passed in the blink of an eye.
Aboard the Twin Stars' Ranger.
"Reporting to both captains: we have reached the outskirts of the Solar System! All systems at the supply base are normal!" the AI Core announced.
"Good. Order the supply base to send a supply package!" the Winged Race captain said.
"Yes. Rendezvous trajectory calculated. Supply package launched! Estimated time until retrieval: ten hours."
Ever since discovering Earth long ago, the Gemini Civilization had designated the Solar System, located on the fringe of its territory, as a future frontier for expansion. Developing it was only a matter of time, so naturally, they had not simply left it alone.
This unmanned supply base on an asteroid on the outskirts of the Solar System was part of the Gemini Civilization's preparations to take over the system.
The Solar System's small wormhole could not only accommodate ships no larger than frigates, but also had restrictions on when it could open.
Transporting matter across vast stretches of space required enormous amounts of energy, and wormholes were no exception. Although passing through a wormhole did not consume a ship's energy, it consumed a form of wormhole energy that the Gemini Civilization had yet to decipher.
Once that wormhole energy was depleted, the wormhole could not open again until it slowly replenished its reserves.
Although the Gemini Civilization had developed Wormhole Wide-Area Detection Technology, allowing it to discover wormholes at great distances, it had yet to develop technology that could replenish their energy. That was reportedly a specialty of the Wulf Civilization.
Precisely because of this limitation, every time the Ranger came to "patrol the forest," it brought a batch of construction materials and supplies to build up a supply base for the Twin Stars' eventual colonization.
