With vigilant guards surrounding them, Nie Yun and the others entered the base.
Yet no one noticed an utterly unremarkable, antlike member of Myriapoda perched on the veins of a broad green leaf in a towering tree a kilometer away. The entire base was reflected in its two jet-black compound eyes.

"Lord Alsace, according to the intelligence we've gathered, we've confirmed that the item is in the hands of that princess of the fallen kingdom. These are several likely hiding places. We're currently deploying additional personnel to conduct searches." The scar-faced officer opened a three-dimensional planetary map with a wave and pointed out several red areas to Nie Yun.
"The target is still accompanied by a contingent of the Former Kingdom Personal Guard Corps, but they suffered heavy casualties during their escape. There shouldn't be many left, though we can't rule out the possibility that they have hidden forces.
"Furthermore, the target enjoys tremendous prestige within the Kara Civilization. The surviving Kara remnants will likely obstruct our search, but their heavy weaponry and main military forces have essentially been destroyed. Against our superior technology and manpower, they certainly won't be able to stir up much trouble," the
