At the wormhole entrance in the Proxima Centauri System.
The Gemini Civilization's second wave of wormhole assault forces was ready to deploy.
Five columns of drones in the Four-Corner Nail Formation stood ready in a tightly packed linear arrangement. At a single command, they would file into the wormhole. Behind them, several small drone carriers were releasing drones at full speed, adding them to the assault force.
Within visual range alone, there were more than fifty thousand drones, and that number was still growing!
Meanwhile, several temporary arms factories scattered across different planets in the Proxima Centauri System were running at full capacity, mining and smelting mineral resources to churn out these drones.
Although Twin Stars was quick to establish new bases, the newly occupied system was still far from self-sufficient. All industrial construction was constrained by supplies and transport capacity.
They did not have the Mechanical Insects' gift for "building a nation with a single insect." Most of the supplies needed to develop the planets and new territories around Proxima Centauri still had to be shipped from within the Gemini Civilization, arriving at the front bit by bit after voyages lasting months.
However, thanks to the Kara Civilization's pathetic space forces, Twin Stars had been able to build as it fought. Once it occupied a planet, construction would begin behind the lines on resource extraction bases and temporary arms factories to support the fighting ahead. That was how it had managed to establish a reasonably respectable amount of industrial production capacity.
Had the two sides been evenly matched, Twin Stars' lengthy supply lines would have left it scrambling to cope with enemy fleet harassment alone.
Although the costs were considerable, once its mature, highly automated growth lines were built, Twin Stars could rapidly establish substantial industrial capacity with only
