"Boss, is this the equipment we're testing?" Lao San asked excitedly, already wearing his battle armor.
Before them stood two silver, shuttle-shaped aircraft. Their streamlined bodies and elegant contours flowed seamlessly, without a single trace of riveted joints, like works of art stamped out in one piece.
"This is a combat aircraft I just designed. I've named it the Silver Shuttle!"
The Silver Shuttle was only about three meters long and used a single turbocharged engine. Without the usual combat components of a fighter jet, it looked more like an ordinary aircraft.
"Boss, this is a combat aircraft? What weapons does it have?" Lao Da asked, gazing in rapture at the futuristic machine.
To soar like an eagle through the open skies-that was every man's romantic dream!
"As you can see, it's less than half the size of a conventional fighter, but it has every function a conventional fighter should have, along with several additional high-tech support systems!
"And it has only one offensive weapon: the Gauss Machine Gun mounted in its nose!"
Gauss Firearms used powerful electromagnetic forces generated by coils inside the barrel to launch magnetic needles. They packed tremendous power and could penetrate heavy armor.
The famous Electromagnetic Cannon operated on the same principle, though there were slight differences between the two.
Simply put, Gauss weapons were better suited to compact designs, while electromagnetic cannons were more suitable for high-powered weapon systems.
Both types of weapon were still undergoing laboratory validation worldwide. The main technical hurdles were material limitations and cumbersome battery packs.
The experimental weapons built so far had firing rates so slow and energy consumption so high that they were completely unsuitable for combat.
For the Mechanical Insects, however, those two technical hurdles happened to be their strengths.
Even so, the Mechanical Insects' own energy
