Background

Guo Wang was a cultivator from another realm who possessed Shimura Danzō's body. Before the possession fully stabilized, he could not use Chakra or Ninjutsu because spirit and flesh had not yet merged; by the end of the Land of Lightning war, he had fully integrated with Danzō's body and memories. 2 3 40

Danzō had been Senju Tobirama's disciple and inherited his swordsmanship and sealing techniques. As Root's leader, he created the Vacuum Series of Wind Release techniques and enforced Root's doctrine of suppressing emotion in favor of mission completion. 34 46

His inherited ambitions were to become Hokage and to fulfill Tobirama's presumed wish of eliminating the Uchiha clan. Guo Wang initially operated within this legacy, though he later publicly acknowledged Kagami Uchiha's Mangekyō Sharingan as a power used to protect Konoha. 30 40
