Another Happy Time Opening Boxes

Noah had no idea he had sparked such widespread discussion.

He was still focused entirely on earning battle merits, rushing from one warship to another and rarely lingering at the G2 Branch.

He could tell, though, that the women serving aboard his ship were looking at him with growing intensity, their eyes full of admiration and adoration. It felt just like his days at Marine Headquarters.

It was annoying.

Fortunately, over the past month, he had completed the Thousand-Person Slayer side quest and met the requirements for upgrading Yone's Twin Blades on the same day, almost one after the other. It was some comfort after all his hard work.

That night,

after temporarily parting from a reluctant Shiya, Noah went straight into the training room and shut the door. He sat on the floor and laid his two swords in front of him.

Full of anticipation, he summoned the system panel with a thought and opened the weapon tab first.

[Wind Sword/Yone's Sword: Required blood of the wicked ×1,000. Requirement met.]

[Spend 50,000 points to upgrade?]

He selected "Yes" without hesitation.

[You have spent 50,000 points. Upgrade in progress. Please wait.]

An animation of tempering and polishing appeared over the weapon tab, along with a long "Loading" bar.

The bar moved absurdly slowly. Noah watched it eagerly at first, but soon grew drowsy. He leaned against the wall, closed his eyes, and let his mind wander while he waited.

He had no idea how much time had passed when he opened his eyes again and found that the bar was finally full.

[Upgrade complete.]

[Your weapons have gained new traits.]

"New traits?"

Noah blinked, then hurriedly closed the notification and read the updated information in the weapon tab below.
