Hot Nest Peninsula.

It was a remote island in the desert southeast of Lodestar Island, surrounded by mountains on one side and sea on the other three. It was one of the few lawless regions in the entire Alabasta Kingdom.

The warship stopped in a recessed area on the eastern side of Hot Nest Peninsula. The surrounding mountains concealed the place; if ships were hidden in its deepest reaches, they would be impossible to spot without coming in to investigate.

"According to the previous arrangement, Buma's warship should have been waiting for us here."

Standing at the bow, Kizaru narrowed his eyes at the empty gap between the mountains. "There are signs of bombardment on the rock face. It looks like a large-scale battle took place here last night."

Yet neither the warship nor its people were anywhere to be seen.

Everyone on deck fell silent. Kizaru swept his narrowed gaze around, then seemed to notice something. His body abruptly transformed into a streak of golden light and vanished from the bow.

In the next instant, he appeared before a crevice midway up the mountainside, hovering in the air.

The temperature within the crevice was far lower than outside, and it only grew colder the deeper one went.

A thin layer of snow remained inside.

Kizaru extended a finger, wiped up a little, and squinted as he examined it beneath the sunlight.

The crystalline hexagonal snowflakes rapidly melted and vanished under the blazing desert sun.

A thoughtful expression immediately appeared on his face.
