"At least several thousand people saved in one go? That truly was an impressive achievement. Shiryu was silently nodding in approval when he suddenly heard the Marines who had been talking earlier lament again. They said there was one small island they had reached too late. By the time Captain Angie arrived, every resident of the village had been slaughtered, and the island's name was..."

"Boom! Shiryu staggered, his vision going black and his whole body shaking violently. He could no longer make out anything being said around him, and his consciousness blurred..."

At Garp's home.

Having just returned from a meeting at Headquarters, Garp was crunching away on doughnuts, watching Noah's exhausted face on the opposite sofa with obvious delight at his misfortune.

"What, didn't sleep well again last night?"

"Yeah."

Dark circles under his eyes, Noah said weakly, "The bed in the room you gave me was way too soft. Gion's body apparently has trouble sleeping in unfamiliar beds. I tossed and turned all night and barely slept."

"You should be grateful I took you in and gave you somewhere to sleep. Now you're getting picky?"

Chewing on a doughnut, Garp glanced sideways at him and curled his lip.

"Trouble sleeping in unfamiliar beds? That's just an excuse. I think you're still fretting over what to do... They still wouldn't let you in today?"

"No."
