Meanwhile, Shuji rushed to the Medical Department with Hinagiku, while Nawaki and Hiashi found Amegakure missing from his dormitory and went looking for him.

  • Ebizo insisted to Chiyo that Sunagakure should aim to defeat Konoha, but Chiyo warned that even victory would draw the other great villages into the conflict.
  • Chiyo explained that Sunagakure had started the war to gain benefits in the Land of Fire and would be lucky to withdraw intact, since defeating Konoha was impossible.
  • Shuji hurried to the Medical Department with Hinagiku, locked his office, and told an assistant to keep watch outside.

  • Lu Cheng arrived at Danzo’s office, where Shuji proposed intercepting and assassinating the Third Kazekage while he traveled to the Sunagakure Camp.
  • Shuji argued that Lu Cheng could infiltrate the Land of Wind, evade sensory ninjas, and provide intelligence on the Kazekage’s defenses.
  • Danzo warned that the Hokage would need to authorize a squad for the assassination and that the One-Tail might accompany the Kazekage.
  • Danzo agreed to report the plan to the Hokage and told Shuji to attend a meeting at seven that evening.

  • Siwenyan invited Amegakure to lunch, but Amegakure declined and reminded him that Konoha’s threat was meant to make Sunagakure hesitate.
  • Siwenyan explained that Konoha’s real target was whoever replaced Chiyo as commander, and that the forces should hold a standoff until Shuji could join the attack.
  • Sarutobi Hiruzen, Danzo, and Lu Cheng discussed sending Sakumo and Shuji to lead separate wings of the assault, while noting that Mito might not be the best choice against the One-Tail.
  • Shuji assured Iki and Rokugatsu they would return alive, then prepared to head to the Land of Wind.

  • Lu Cheng entered the office and explained that he could use a Shadow Clone to infiltrate the Land of Wind and track the Kazekage, while his main body launched surprise attacks near Sunagakure’s camp.
  • Lu Cheng argued that the Kazekage might not personally come, but Sarutobi Hiruzen said Chiyo’s circumstances made the Kazekage’s arrival likely and that Sunagakure’s One-Tail might also be deployed.
  • Sarutobi Hiruzen approved Lu Cheng’s plan and ordered Tokugawa’s team to cooperate with him.
  • Lu Cheng thanked Danzō and Hiruzen, then vanished to carry out the mission.
