Background / History
Tie Protector ambushed Ning Chen and the Little Fairy Doctor aboard their Wind Riding Boat near the Nether Swamp. His Soul Locking Chain broke through the boat’s shield, but Ning Chen blocked the strike. Ning Chen then claimed to be “Hun Chen” and demonstrated knowledge of Soul Hall affairs. After testing him with a question about the alchemist Mugu, Tie Protector became convinced he was a high-ranking member of the Soul Clan and begged forgiveness 28 29.
Ning Chen ordered him to collect poison-arts texts for the Little Fairy Doctor and arrange lodgings at the Wanxie Sect. Tie Protector complied, even though diverting resources slowed the soul collection ordered by his superior, Venerable Jiyin. When questioned, he relayed Ning Chen’s instructions to Jiyin, who decided to investigate “Hun Chen” in person 29 30 31.
Tie Protector remained among Ning Chen’s attendants at the Wanxie Sect. He and Xie Biyan gave Ning Chen and the Little Fairy Doctor an emotional farewell when they departed three months later 30 33.
