Uchiha Chen lay flat on the operating table, where he sometimes dissected animals and studied Medical Ninjutsu. Calmly, he injected a dose of anesthetic into a vein.
It was just an eye replacement—a "minor operation" by the standards of medical ninjutsu in the Shinobi World.
He wondered how long this portion of the Nine-Tails' Chakra would keep the prosthetic eye running.
As he thought about this and that, Uchiha Chen soon fell asleep.
When he opened his eyes again, he felt a strong foreign-body sensation in his eye socket.
The prosthetic eye replacement was complete.
After a long while, once he'd recovered enough, Uchiha Chen got up with the clone's support and slowly sat down in front of the mirror.
"My mission's over. You can handle the rest yourself!"
With a puff of smoke, the clone vanished.
Memories of the several hours spent in surgery flooded his mind all at once. A violent wave of dizziness nearly made Uchiha Chen throw up, but he kept his gaze fixed on his eyes in the mirror.
Oh, no!
His eyes were sitting in preservative solution on the table. The things in his eye sockets were prosthetics.
The dark, lively pupils and pale sclera looked no different from his original eyes in their normal state.
Uchiha Chen examined the prosthetic eyes closely, thoroughly satisfied. He immediately molded Chakra and sent it flowing into them.
Three tomoe quickly appeared in his pupils.
They felt dry and sluggish, nowhere near as smooth to use as his original eyes, but—
These prosthetic eyes could reach the level of the Mangekyō!
The seal was half-released!
The Nine-Tails' Chakra, which had just settled down, surged violently, trying to drown Uchiha Chen. But as soon as it entered his pathways, the ravenous prosthetic eyes swept it all away.
