Tony stared fixedly at the creature before him, with its pointed ears and green vertical pupils, his mind going completely blank.
What was this, some Halloween prank?
Or was it— a Mutant?
But the next moment, Tony Stark snapped out of it.
"Friday! Activate MK45!"
Tony abruptly stepped back half a pace and shouted at the air.
But fake Rhodey reacted faster than he did.
There was none of the old brotherhood left in those green vertical pupils.
The creature reached behind itself for the holster on its outer thigh, drew the standard-issue U.S. military M17 pistol, and pulled the trigger.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Brass casings bounced across the non-slip coating of the helipad, ringing out crisply.
Fuck! He's actually shooting!
Tony cursed furiously in his heart.
Nine-millimeter Parabellum rounds left the barrel, trailing scorching gunpowder gas straight toward Tony's forehead.
He did not even have time to dodge.
But in the next instant, the three bullets stopped dead less than five centimeters from Tony's nose.
The spinning bullets rubbed against the air, giving off a faint burnt smell. Then, with several clinks, they fell to the ground.
Tony let out a long breath and turned to Harry.
Harry had already donned his Bio-Armor—
And that was exactly what the green-skinned monster had planned for.
Without the slightest hesitation, the monster threw away the gun, turned, and ran.
At the same time, its wrinkled face began to melt and reform like boiling wax.
Its bones cracked with a teeth-grating sound. Its height shrank, its green skin faded, turning into the healthy complexion of a Caucasian man.
A meticulously trimmed little goatee grew from its chin.
Tony's eyes widened.
This thing had actually turned into him.
Then it turned and charged toward the red-and-gold Iron Man armor at the edge of
