Background / History
Shin was a young wandering ninja who idolized Uchiha Houka. White Zetsu brought him to Madara because his body accepted transplanted tissue without rejection. Madara offered him the Uchiha name and Sharingan in exchange for obedience and a promise to kill Houka. Shin accepted, resolving to surpass his former idol 408.
Shin helped orchestrate a Tailed Beast rampage near Konoha and fought Houka and Hatake Sakumo. He escaped after Sakumo severed his right arm. His pursuit of cell-cloning research subsequently led to a hostile partnership with Orochimaru: Shin wanted a way to replace his deteriorating Mangekyō, while Orochimaru wanted Sharingan for his experiments 424 429 490 491.
Shin later joined Akatsuki and pursued the Tailed Beasts. During the war, he commanded reincarnated ninja and clone soldiers, seeking to become the Ten-Tails’ jinchūriki. After his Six Paths of Pain were defeated, Black Zetsu merged with him under the pretense of helping him reach the Ten-Tails, then seized control of his left side and Rinnegan 862 1036 1047 1138.

Personality
Shin’s admiration for Houka becomes a fixation on defeating him. He regards himself as Madara’s rightful successor and the only person worthy of the Uchiha name, despite not possessing the clan’s bloodline 408 615 1047 1052.
He is ruthless toward enemies and subordinates alike, treating reincarnated fighters and clone soldiers as expendable. Although often overconfident, he retreats when outmatched and becomes increasingly suspicious of Orochimaru and Zetsu as their goals diverge from his own 457 1030 1047.
