"The one-on-one duels for the final twenty are actually being held in the real world? That really fits the Great Axe Arena's style," Lin Yuan thought.
"But the rules say they'll ensure no participant dies during a duel? That's considerate of them."
"It seems the Great Axe Arena does care, at least a little, about the lives of the top twenty geniuses."
"I wonder what method the Great Axe Arena will use to ensure the geniuses don't die in their duels." Lin Yuan pondered.
Resurrecting geniuses who died in duels? That clearly wasn't realistic. Resurrection required a Universe Master to personally intervene, and the cost was outrageously high. Even resurrecting a single Universe Level expert cost hundreds or thousands of times more than nurturing a genius.
Would a powerful expert intervene at the moment of death? If they waited until the last moment, there would still be uncertainty, which might affect the fairness of the competition. The Great Axe Arena probably wouldn't choose that kind of intervention either.
"I'll find out when the time comes."
Lin Yuan soon finished reading the full introduction to the Peak Warrior Tournament.
The Universe Kingdom Selection Tournament would select the top 1,000 experts from each Universe Kingdom.
The first stage was the World Preliminary Elimination Tournament, the most brutal round.
All the geniuses who signed up from a single Universe Kingdom would be divided among 100 worlds. Only the 1,001 participants with the highest scores in each world could advance to the next stage. Everyone else would be eliminated.
Each world would select 1,001 participants, so the 100 worlds would select a total of 100,100.
The first-place participant in each world would directly claim one of the top 1,000 spots in their Universe Kingdom. The remaining 100,000 participants would compete in arena battles for the 900 spots left.
The Universe Kingdom Selection Tournament posed no challenge at all for geniuses like Lin Yuan, who ranked among the top few at the Universe Level in the Holy Land Universe.
With their strength, as long as they weren't assigned to the same world, they would almost certainly come in first in their respective worlds.
But each world could have tens of millions of participants, and every world was vast. Placing first by score still required some luck.
If he didn't encounter enough opponents, or if participants who already had enough points chose to hide later on, he could be left with no one to fight, no matter how strong he was.
Lin Yuan planned to sign up right away.
He opened the registration page. A string of numbers at the top kept changing, labeled "Number of Applicants from the Nine Flames Universe Kingdom."
Lin Yuan looked at it. The number displayed was 314,059,785. A few seconds later, it changed to 338,934,290.
"More than three hundred million people have already signed up," Lin Yuan thought.
The Nine Flames Universe Kingdom had more than 200 million star systems, and its Universe Level cultivators numbered at least two or three billion.
Lin Yuan remembered that the Ganwu Universe Kingdom had around one billion Universe Level cultivators. It seemed the Nine Flames Universe Kingdom was larger than the Ganwu Universe Kingdom.
Lin Yuan quickly filled in his personal information, then clicked the "Register" button.
"Beep!"
"Scan complete. Universe Level 9 warrior. Registration approved."
In the Virtual Universe, inside a quiet courtyard.
"Brian, your strength has improved again. The clan ancestor will be watching you compete in the Warrior Battle this time. Are you confident?"
A silver-haired man asked the junior of his clan standing before him. The aura the man exuded had already reached the level of a King.
"Clan ancestor, I'll give it everything I have and bring honor to our people! My only goal is to rank first in the entire universe!" The silver-haired young man's gaze was firm. "I'll become a new pillar of our clan!"
"Good! A member of the Desolate God Race should have ambition! I hope that the next time I see you in the real world, you'll have become a powerful Immortal! Go."
The silver-haired young man respectfully left the courtyard.
"Lin Yuan, I look forward to facing you in the Warrior Battle," the silver-haired young man murmured.
The Nine Flames Universe Kingdom, Red Flame Planet.
Inside a huge manor.
"Clan ancestor, what brings you here?" The chubby Cohen looked surprised to see Marquis Huanyu had come in person.
"The Peak Warrior Tournament is about to begin. I couldn't feel at ease without coming to give you a few words of advice myself," Marquis Huanyu said.
Among Marquis Huanyu's descendants, no one had ever become an Immortal Expert, and it had been a very long time since anyone as gifted as Cohen had appeared.
Marquis Huanyu saw hope in Cohen, so he treated him like his own grandson.
He hoped Cohen would become an Immortal someday and take charge of the family. Though he knew the chances were slim, he still did everything he could to cultivate him.
"Don't worry, clan ancestor. I'll give it my all," Cohen said earnestly.
"Remember, you must be cautious. Don't let your guard down, especially in the later Peak Grand Finals. You..."
Marquis Huanyu gave Cohen a long and heartfelt list of instructions.
In a cave in a secret realm within the Nanhu Universe Kingdom.
A Fox-kin woman with a furry tail was fighting over a thousand ferocious beasts inside the cave. She moved with agility, yet seemed completely at ease despite being surrounded by them.
At a thought, a pure-white Telepathic Weapon shot forth with a howl, charging toward the beasts. They seemed to freeze for an instant. A streak of white light flashed past, piercing every beast through the head. One after another, they fell.
The Fox-kin woman recalled her Telepathic Weapon and walked over to an Immortal Expert nearby.
"Teacher." The Fox-kin woman bowed respectfully.
"Very good, Lena. You're the most talented disciple I've ever taken," the Immortal Expert said with a smile, nodding in satisfaction.
"Go compete in the Peak Warrior Tournament and join the Great Axe Arena. My abilities are limited. There, you'll find a teacher better suited to guiding you."
"Teacher, I'll never let your efforts in raising me go to waste!" The Fox-kin woman's eyes filled with gratitude.
Time passed. With all Cosmic Humans watching, registration for the Peak Warrior Tournament finally ended.
The Peak Warrior Tournament was more entertaining than the Peak Genius Tournament because its participants were stronger.
Many ordinary Planet Level and Star Level cultivators might go their entire lives without seeing more than a few Universe Level experts.
For them, each Peak Warrior Tournament was the best chance to witness the power of the strong, broaden their horizons, and learn something new. Every Peak Warrior Tournament was a celebration for the Human Race.
On this day, one month remained before the Peak Warrior Tournament officially began.
"Beep! Master, you have mail!" the Smart Optical Brain reminded him.
Lin Yuan quickly opened it.
"Welcome to the 'Cosmic Humans—Peak Warrior Tournament.'
"This selection round has attracted more than one billion Universe Level experts from the Nine Flames Universe Kingdom, one hundred million more than in the previous tournament.
"We guarantee that the entire Peak Warrior Tournament will be conducted under 'absolute fairness.'
"In the Virtual Universe, every participant's physical attributes and telepathic strength will be kept at Universe Level 9.
"All participants may choose any Force Weapon or Telepathic Weapon of any grade, but may not take more than ten in total. The Force Battle Suit they choose may not exceed the third grade.
"The selection will test the participants' combat experience, willpower, domains, and Law Comprehension. All external conditions will be exactly the same for everyone.
"For more information, see the attachment."
"The Nine Flames Universe Kingdom has nearly half its Universe Level cultivators competing in the Warrior Battle? This should be lively!" Lin Yuan marveled to himself.
"I've been assigned to Sector 17 World." Looking at the information in the email, Lin Yuan thought, "I hope I get lucky and run into plenty of participants."
