Background / History

The Virtual Universe operates specialized planes for major human institutions. A Great Axe Arena-exclusive plane contains a vast river of floating islands, including Island No. 10720, where life-death battles are broadcast to spectators from different universe kingdoms and wagers are placed. Great Axe Arena supervisors can also divert their consciousness into the network to review combat recordings. 1 2

Before gaining his freedom, Lin Yuan could access only a private single-player training space through the network; he had no access to outside information. 3 After Saiwen gave him a Smart Optical Brain, Lin Yuan entered the full Virtual Universe for the first time, appearing in a technologically styled city populated by users of varied races and appearances. 7

The network is closely linked to the Virtual Universe Company. It supports account registration, auctions, formal assessments, core-member management, and access to specialized locations such as Chaos City, the Heavenly Bridge, Immortal Altar, Thunder Island, Divine Arrival Island, and Hong Alliance City. 10 12 99 100 102 186

The Original Ancestor created the Virtual Universe as a secret technique. Darkness Lord describes Illusion Universe as the Original Ancestor's earlier attempt to use illusion to simulate the universe's origin before creating the Virtual Universe itself. 208 The Virtual Universe covers both the Primal Universe and the Initial Universe, and remains part of the Original Ancestor's legacy despite his permanent suppression by the Primal Universe's origin. 207 358

Virtual Presentation

The Virtual Universe presents users with configurable virtual bodies and environments rather than a single fixed physical form.

• New users can appear in city environments wearing ordinary virtual clothing and accompanied by a shoulder-mounted sprite representing their Smart Optical Brain. 7
• Users may set purchased virtual property as their login location. Lin Yuan purchases a villa in Fire Cloud Pavilion for this purpose. 23
• Teleportation within the network allows users to move directly between approved planes, islands, manors, palaces, and assessment spaces. 78 81 102

Virtual Environments and Combat Simulation

The network creates detailed spaces for training, duels, spectator events, and life-and-death simulations.

• Great Axe Arena planes host life-death battles, spectator stands, private boxes, combat broadcasts, and betting. 1 2
• The Killing Field's Killing Space can simulate opponents, domains, weapons, and combat conditions. 41
• In the Immortal Altar plane, a participant's energy and law fluctuations are suppressed, leaving only physical strength available. 100
