Background / History
Chan Yinshe was originally a silver shark enlightened by Han Xiaozi of the Divine Firmament Sect. Over time, she became one of the renowned Eight Great Demon Immortals and earned the title Silver Shark King. She had become a Ghost Immortal roughly a century before Han Xiaozi reappeared, though she had not originally possessed a human body. 404 405
After undergoing corpse liberation, she acquired her present human body. This body is the biological daughter of Cloudrise Kingdom's king, Chan Guizang, and its queen, making her Cloudrise's princess as well as its revered sea-protecting figure. Coastal people build temples and offer prayers to her before sailing, believing the princess who commands silver sharks can keep them safe at sea. 237 238
Her first conflict with Hong Yi began over the Primordial Female Heavenly Pearl, which she intended to use in refining a Golden Core of Rebirth and strengthening her body. Though she initially overwhelms Hong Yi with water thunder and Divine Firmament lightning arts, Hong Yi eventually returns the pearl; she declares their former grievance settled. 125 177
Chan Yinshe later accepts Hong Yi's offer of the Yin-Yang Peach God Sword in exchange for cooperation against Bi Shihua, the Black Wolf King. Their alliance develops through repeated battles, shared cultivation, and mutual disclosure of secret arts. 178 179 192 212
At Cloudrise's state banquet, she publicly declares Hong Yi her chosen Dao companion, rejecting the Champion Marquis's interest in her and helping provoke his hostility toward Hong Yi. 238 239
Appearance
In human form, Chan Yinshe is consistently described as possessing an ethereal, refined beauty that contrasts with her origins as the Silver Shark King. Her appearance and bearing can be serene and immortal-like, but her breath and gaze retain a sharp, dangerous edge. 193 208 211
- Originally appears through or alongside an immense silver shark with arm-thick, sword-length teeth. 177
- Often wears pale-yellow or yellow gauze robes. 125 315
- Has slender, fair hands and dark, cloudlike hair. 315
- Her skin becomes fairer and more crystalline after cultivating with Hong Yi. 193
- Her eyes and even her breathing can carry blade-like sharpness. 211
Personality
Chan Yinshe is proud, perceptive, and highly cautious around powerful treasures and cultivation methods. When Hong Yi offers her the Past Sutra, she refuses to read it with an unsettled mind and initially argues that it should be destroyed rather than risk qi deviation or inner demons. 212
Despite her formidable reputation, she is not merely forceful. She understands human schemes, recognizes flaws in Hong Yi's martial training, and patiently guides him through the process of forging the True Martial Saint Body. 178 192 193
Her decisions are strongly independent. She publicly chooses Hong Yi as her Dao companion, refuses to be treated as a prize by the Champion Marquis, and later declines to rely on the treasures and inherited thoughts left by Han Xiaozi, choosing instead to seek a successor for the Divine Firmament Dao. 238 239 406
