Yun Mountain, Jiangnan City.
Su Yu arrived at Yun Mountain early in the morning to hike alone, spending the entire day at the summit.
On his way down that afternoon, a torrential downpour struck without warning. Not only was Su Yu caught completely off guard and soaked to the bone, but to his growing alarm, the soil around him began to loosen.
Su Yu didn't hesitate; he immediately started running. He knew that in such a heavy downpour, the risk of a landslide was extreme, and only by getting out of there quickly could he be safe.
Su Yu sprinted frantically along the mountain path. The sky had turned pitch black, and the sounds of rolling stones and shifting earth sent cold sweat prickling across his skin.
The cold sweat mingled with the rainwater on his body, helping Su Yu maintain a shred of composure.
Unfortunately, composure alone wasn't enough to save him in this situation. Su Yu soon reached the base of a slope, a necessary passage for his descent.
Su Yu stood still, staring at the hillside. It was restless, as if a landslide were imminent. Knowing he had no choice but to run, he gritted his teeth and charged forward.
He had only made it halfway when a deafening roar erupted. Stones began to tumble from the slope, and the earth slowly started to surge.
Pale with terror, Su Yu realized he couldn't escape. A sense of desolation rose in his heart, and he smiled bitterly, I've lived a pathetic life; if I die, so be it. No one cares anyway...
Resigned to his fate, Su Yu simply closed his eyes and waited for the end. After a long moment, he felt a flicker of confusion—why was he still alive?
Su Yu opened his eyes and was met with a giant face, causing him to stumble back in fright and shout, "What the hell!"
An old man with white hair stood before him, smiling. Su Yu was startled, and as he looked around, he realized he was no longer on Yun Mountain.
The surroundings were chaotic, with stars flickering both above and below him. It felt as if Su Yu were standing in space, yet unlike space, there was oxygen and a flat surface beneath his feet.
"Hello, young one. I am the Void Dominator; you may call me Void," the white-haired old man said with a beaming smile.
For some reason, seeing the old man's smiling expression made Su Yu's skin crawl.
Su Yu looked around and then asked the Void Dominator, "What the—hey, old man, who are you? Where is this? And, am I dead or not?"
The Void Dominator suddenly floated over to Su Yu and replied, "I told you, I am the Void Dominator, and this is my Void Realm—my world. You are not dead. Your original fate was to be buried alive and suffocate in that landslide; it was I who saved you."
Su Yu looked at the Void Dominator and asked, "Why did you save me?"
The Void Dominator waved his sleeve. "The fates of the world are long since ordained. Disaster approaches, and a Dominator must stand ready!"
Su Yu frowned deeply and retorted, "Speak plain human."
The Void Dominator rolled his eyes at Su Yu and said, "It means the celestial signs indicate a disaster is coming, and a Dominator is needed to protect the entire world."
Su Yu was speechless. "What does that have to do with saving me?"
The Void Dominator clasped his hands behind his back and sighed. "At the dawn of chaos, the heavens birthed four Dominators: Void, Spacetime, Reincarnation, and Myriad Realms. But an epoch ago, the Myriad Realms Dominator fell in battle during a catastrophe. Since then, the four have been incomplete."
"The disaster is coming again. This destructive calamity occurs once every epoch, and the three of us cannot withstand it alone. That is why we need you."
Su Yu asked curiously, "Why did you choose me?"
The Void Dominator pointed upward. "The celestial signs point to you as the most suitable person to become the Myriad Realms Dominator. You are too weak right now and lack any combat experience, so I will grant you three wishes. State them."
Su Yu's eyes darted around, and he smiled. "You can really grant me three wishes?"
The Void Dominator nodded slightly. "Of course. Our only requirement is that you join us in resisting the disaster in the future."
Su Yu said happily, "Fine! Then it's a deal. I have no attachments in this life and have lived like a coward; saving the world sounds like a great gig—I'm in!"
Hearing Su Yu's agreement, the Void Dominator immediately beamed. "Excellent! It is settled. Now, state your wishes."
Su Yu nodded. "My first wish is, of course, to be invincible. If I'm not invincible, how the hell am I supposed to save the world?"
The Void Dominator laughed. "Of course. I was going to give you the Divine Core of the Myriad Realms Dominator anyway. Once you accept it, your strength will be effectively invincible!"
Su Yu continued excitedly, "My second wish is that I want to travel through the myriad realms. I've read novels about it, and I've always been so envious!"
The Void Dominator let out a hearty laugh. "Kid, you've wasted your first two wishes! The Divine Core of the Myriad Realms Dominator is something I have to give you, and as for why it's called the 'Myriad Realms' Dominator—can't you guess?"
Su Yu certainly could; the Myriad Realms Dominator would naturally be able to travel through the myriad realms. However, he didn't care and continued, "It's fine, wasted or not. My third wish is that I want the Infinity Gauntlet from Marvel!"
With a wave of his hand, the Void Dominator produced a cubic purple crystal and the Infinity Gauntlet. He looked at Su Yu and said, "Your wishes shall be granted now!"
As he spoke, the purple cubic crystal flew toward Su Yu and hovered above his head, while the Infinity Gauntlet automatically snapped onto his hand.
The crystal began to emit a dazzling Purple Light, growing so bright that Su Yu couldn't help but close his eyes.
Once the light reached its peak, it surged into Su Yu's body. He immediately felt a force rampaging within him, forcing him to scream, "Ah—!"
Su Yu clutched his chest, soon drenched in sweat from the agony, until he no longer had the strength to stand and collapsed onto one knee.
After an unknown amount of time, Su Yu felt the discomfort slowly fade and his strength return. It felt as if he had been reborn.
Su Yu slowly stood up, clenched his fist, and punched the air in front of him.
BOOM!
A sonic boom echoed through the space. The Void Dominator's mustache twitched in anger as he shouted, "You brat, do you want to collapse my Void Realm?!"
Su Yu chuckled sheepishly. "Old man, I didn't mean to. Am I the Myriad Realms Dominator now?"
The Void Dominator nodded. "You should be able to sense the power within you. Since you're still a clueless kid, I've placed a spirit inside your Divine Core. Her name is Ya Er. She knows everything from astronomy to geography, and she knows ninety percent of the affairs across the myriad realms. Ask her if you don't understand something in the future."
