Background / History

Xue Qinghe entered the Royal Soul Beast Forest under an imperial order to recuperate from exhaustion and select a small soul beast companion. There, she witnessed the juvenile Xiao Yu effortlessly evade and defeat a century-old Datura Snake. Unable to identify his species, she became determined to acquire the rare winged beast without harming him. 1 2 3

Rather than forcefully capture Xiao Yu, Xue Qinghe repeatedly visited his giant-tree home with fruit. Her initial attempts to lure him into becoming her companion failed, but she gradually established contact through food and a bargain allowing her to pet him. Xiao Yu remained wary of her intentions, yet began tolerating her presence. 5 6 8

When Xue Beng brought an abused thousand-year Scarlet Mad Lion into the forest to provoke Xiao Yu, Xue Qinghe uncovered the scheme and attempted to contain the situation.
