Background / History

The empire was founded after ancestors of the Xu and Kong clans—led by the second elder of Martial Soul Hall—crossed the ocean from the Douluo Continent and unified the new land. Its royal family and much of its cultural inheritance originated from the old Heaven Dou line, including its written language, currency, commoner awakening practices, and Soul Master subsidies. 107

Four thousand years before the main story, the Douluo Three Kingdoms invaded the Sun Moon Empire after judging that it lacked a Super Douluo. The empire was defeated, forced to cede territory and pay reparations, and stripped of the name “Sun Moon Continent.” The Defense of Ming Capital lasted two hundred days and cost over two million lives, but the state survived because it did not fracture internally. 30 134 204

Following roughly a millennium of recovery, the empire invested heavily in Soul Tool development. Kong Deming’s work over the following century elevated its national strength; every Level 9 Soul Master is said to have received some degree of his guidance or assistance. 48

By the present era, the Sun Moon Empire maintains relatively steady trade with the Heaven Spirit Empire, while its long border and rare-metal disputes with Star Luo keep the two states in persistent conflict around the Mingdou Mountain Range. 4 22

Imperial Authority

The Sun Moon Imperial Palace stands at the center of Ming Capital and is protected by the Royal Soul Engineer Corps, the Emperor’s most loyal force and the empire’s core military power. 29

Mingde Hall is formally loyal to the Emperor rather than the Crown Prince and is normally prohibited from intervening in court politics. This separation is significant because the succession of a Sun Moon Crown Prince is historically uncertain. 152

Commoner Policy

The empire responds with purges, increased security measures, and renewed military operations along the Mingdou Mountain Range. Xu Tinglan’s actions against Star Luo raiders significantly strengthen the Sun Moon position on the front. 152 154 161

Imperial Power Crisis

After the Emperor’s death, Xu Tianran ascends the throne amid pressure from rival princes, hostile foreign powers, and the Holy Spirit Cult. The empire reinforces the Mingdou front with the Sun Moon Soul Engineer Regiment and four Beast King Soul Engineer Regiments. 222

An attempted assault on the imperial palace by Shrek-affiliated and other Title Douluos fails when Kong Deming activates the High-Energy Compression Arrays. 208

Star Luo Offensive

Under Xu Tinglan’s leadership as the Martial King, the Sun Moon Empire shifts from defense to invasion. He destroys the Star Luo Northwest Army and forms the Mystic Armor Soul Engineer Regiment to seize major cities. 228

The regiment targets resisting nobles and burns Star Luo flags after taking cities, while being ordered not to loot or massacre civilians. 228
