Dark set the book down. "I was thinking, since this is a crest related to the Elves, perhaps we could find an Elf and ask."
Aurora said, "Speaking of Elves, isn't Professor Sylph a half-Elf?"
Dark shook his head. "Professor Sylph doesn't seem particularly familiar with the Elves either. But I think I already know who we should ask."
Aurora asked, "Who?"
Dark said, "Uncle Simmons."
For the moment, Dark set aside the matter of asking Uncle Simmons for information. He immediately looked at the other two books and asked, "Are these two books both about the patterns on the scabbard?"
"Yes." Aurora picked up one of the books and said, "We can start with this one. It introduces Orc totems, and it happens to include that kind of pattern."
Dark accepted it and looked at the cover. War Totems. The Orc totem system was one of a kind.
The items that accompanied it were usually "Totem Poles."
Orcs carved totem patterns onto "Totem Poles," then infused them with magically charged blood or other substances, allowing the "Totem Poles" to release all kinds of auras.
Whether Orc witch doctors and shamans, Orc warriors, or even Orc architects, all were particularly fond of "Totem Poles."
Beast Shamans used small "Totem Poles" as wands. Orc warriors used metal "Totem Poles" as weapons. Orc architects, meanwhile, erected enormous "Totem Poles" within buildings or tribal territories to produce various effects.
Among them, War Totems were a special kind of totem that required Orc architects to carve them onto massive Totem Poles before they could be activated.
However, War Totems were not erected within tribal territory, but on battlefields or within military positions.
The various war auras released by War Totem Poles could grant Orc warriors even greater strength.
