For the moment, that did indeed seem to be the case.
But such an enormous nest clearly could not be supported by a single mountain peak. This meant the nest itself was highly unusual. Like the compartment of the Pumpkin Carriage, it had likely folded space within itself.
If the giant whale and those mist beasts attacked humans not out of some instinct to "protect their territory,"
then the true reason most likely lay within this nest! "Goddess of the Mind's Eye."
Dark called out directly, but Magic Beast: Goddess of the Mind's Eye merely shook her head. "There is no flow of divine aura."
"What a pity." Dark tilted his head slightly upward and looked toward the top of the nest.
Aside from its immense internal space, there was almost nothing remarkable about the nest. The rock walls around it had been badly damaged by the giant whale's rampage. Yet the area directly overhead alone had remained untouched.
"Judging from the giant whale's behavior, if there really is something here, it can only be hidden at the top of this nest."
Dark voiced his conjecture.
At his words, Professor Sylph willed the Storm Magic Carpet toward the top of the nest.
The entire nest resembled a gigantic egg lying on its side. The "upper area" that had escaped the giant whale's destruction was, in truth, only the tiny section at the very top.
Professor Sylph halted the Storm Magic Carpet beneath that area.
The ceiling of the nest seemed to sense their approach. Golden words emerged from above, forming four sentences.
The first sentence read: "Eliminate intruders"!
Those four sentences were not written in any known script. Yet as long as one looked up at them, their meaning naturally surfaced in one's mind.
