To this day, the adventurers could no longer tell what property damage that evil dragon had actually caused. In any case, everyone knew that it had attacked the town and done evil deeds. That was enough.
After learning there was a dragon, all the townspeople had become fearful and anxious. But since there had been no reports of anyone dying or any place being destroyed, their feelings had remained limited to mere "unease."
But about a week ago, that evil dragon attacked the town again.
That time, however, someone in the town seemed to have anticipated its return. They had laid an inescapable net, waiting only for it to appear before launching a siege.
And so, the battle began.
The black dragon's breath corroded the city walls, and the aftershock of its flames burned through entire blocks. Countless residents living in that area fled screaming and crying.
Casualties began to appear, and their numbers kept rising.
Yet the "inescapable net" meant to trap and kill the black dragon was easily shattered. The warriors who had taken part in the dragon-slaying battle were nearly all killed or wounded.
The black dragon's roar shook the night sky, and fear spread wildly like a rising tide. Only when many adventurers stepped forward did they finally manage to drive back the nearly crazed black dragon.
But everyone knew it would return!
By then, investigating why the black dragon had attacked the town had become meaningless.
Because of that evil dragon, one corner of the town had been reduced to ruins, and countless people had been killed or injured.
Humans could never forgive an evil dragon.
