After the two met up, Dark led the way toward the staircase at one side of the hall. The hall had no walls on any of its four sides, with only four massive pillars standing at its corners. Though its ceiling was high, it had only one floor.
However, stairs had been built along the side, leading up to the rooftop.
To witness the opening of the [Heavenly Court] from atop this mountain, they naturally could not remain beneath a ceiling. Only by climbing the stairs, with the blue sky overhead, could they see the sight of the [Heavenly Court] opening.
Several people were already seated on the rooftop, and nearly every one of them carried an instrument, clearly intending to play some music.
Dark withdrew his gaze from those instruments and thought that joining Apollo's camp had at least one advantage: his ears would be in for a treat.
The two casually found a spot and sat down, looking out over their surroundings. The layout of the mountaintop structures was quite deliberate. There were many single-story, flat-roofed buildings, as well as many multi-story structures with pointed roofs.
The halls occupied by the camps of the Twelve Heavenly Gods were separated from one another by those pointed-roof buildings. Even from this rooftop, it was impossible to see any of the camps.
But farther away stood an arched gate that none of those pointed-roof buildings could obscure.
There was still nothing unusual within that gate, but it was said that once the [Heavenly Court] opened, anyone who passed through it could ascend the "Heavenly Stairs."
