Greed Slime's evolution would only last about five minutes. They had to at least determine the treasure's approximate location within that time.
As they traveled through the passage, another ten minutes quickly passed.
They had barely collected anything from the monsters they hunted along the way.
Finally, just as Greed Slime was about to devolve, the vanguard, DemiDevimon, suddenly flew back from ahead, gesturing wildly as it conveyed its message.
"Someone's up ahead?" Dark asked with a frown.
DemiDevimon immediately nodded.
"Did someone get here before us?"
Dark stroked the Greed Slime in his arms and hesitated. "In any case, let's go take a look first."
The other three agreed as well.
The four of them then quickened their pace.
After walking only a short distance, a sudden clamor drifted over from ahead.
Dark raised a hand at the girls, signaling them to stop. He himself poked half his face around the corner and observed carefully.
At a glance, he relaxed slightly.
They really were people.
And half of them were familiar faces.
Sara Swati and Heidi Euphemia from the Magister House, along with another Magister House girl he did not know well.
Teddy Dulong, Pistan, and another tall girl from the Noble House.
For some reason, these two groups had come together.
But facing them were three people who were clearly an upper-year group.
"Third-years?"
Dark took one look at the style of their uniforms and immediately identified their year.
"Come to think of it, it's Friday afternoon. It really is time for the Dungeon to be open as usual."
Dark muttered softly for a moment, then stopped hiding and walked directly out from around the corner.
Emma, Diana, and Rose exchanged glances before following him out.
