Rose immediately fetched paper and pen from the desk behind her.
Little Bear sat down expressionlessly with its legs spread apart, then moved the sheet of paper between its two short legs, grabbed the pen, and began to write.
It seemed as though it had not written in a long time, or perhaps bear paws simply were not suited for the task.
At first, its handwriting was crooked and illegible, making it impossible to tell what it had written.
But after writing roughly one line, it gradually got the hang of it. It crossed out that line with a single stroke and wrote again:
