I couldn't say it ended smoothly. I could only say it had barely managed to drift along and finish this volume, like a cat going with the current.
I had to say, this moved the cat deeply.
I'll answer quite a few things here. Based on DMs, private chats, and questions from some friends, I'll briefly answer a few questions.
[Did the author revise the outline?]
No!
If an author didn't have an outline, then how could they revise it? (righteous and confident)
This book was written entirely without an outline. Originally, it was only meant to be a super-short story, simply narrating what kind of stories might happen "if witches, as a race, replaced more than half of humanity." But because I went through some unpleasant things at the time and had no heart to research a new book, I simply said, "The new book can wait until eight hundred thousand words," then it became, "Maybe a million words," and finally, "Let's talk after two million words." And now it had reached nearly three million words.
It was completely without an outline, yet people still asked whether I was prepared to wrap it up. Only then did I slowly fumble out a mini-outline. (guilty)
But in any case, overall, Witch 94 had no outline, meow-ow.
