Golden Radiance Territory...
Across the plain where the "Gate" stood, every unit of the human allied forces waited in grim readiness.
The plains of Golden Radiance Territory were vast and flat, ideally suited for cavalry warfare. Yet this time, the human allied forces had not deployed the arrow formation best suited for a frontal cavalry charge, but a wild-goose formation composed of several large phalanxes.
This was a battle formation spread horizontally, with the phalanxes on both flanks arranged in staggered tiers toward the front. It somewhat resembled a "V," with cavalry positioned on the wings. Not only could this formation bring out the full power of the flank cavalry, it could also effectively protect the wings and rear. Its relatively weak point was the rear. Yet this "weakness" was only relative to the wild-goose formation itself. This was Golden Radiance Territory, the home ground of the human allied forces. The rear was not only lined with catapults, magic crystal cannons, and all kinds of military equipment, but also concealed even more reserve troops, ready to ambush or rotate in at any moment. The "weak point" had instead become a trap-filled strong point.
The forces participating in this battle numbered roughly eight hundred thousand. In terms of numbers alone, they were only a small portion of the human allied forces' total strength, but this was already the most suitable number of troops the plain could accommodate. Moreover, these eight hundred thousand soldiers were all the alliance's elite, equipped with the finest weapons.
Heavy cavalry occupied both flanks. On the left wing, both knights and warhorses were clad in sturdy armor. Beneath the knights' plate armor was lightweight, resilient padded armor, further enhancing their defenses. Besides a longsword, every cavalryman carried a five-meter knight's lance.
