Chloe took a deck of divination cards from the small bag she carried with her. The edges of each card were slightly worn from years of use.
She explained with a smile:
"It isn't any formal prophecy or deduction, just a little game for after tea."
Dail leaned over curiously, staring intently at the deck:
"I heard divination card spreads are all really amazing. Can they actually see the future?"
"Nothing that amazing."
Chloe shook her head with a laugh:
"To put it plainly, divination is just probability plus Psychological Suggestion."
"The cards themselves aren't anything special. What really matters is how the interpreter connects the symbols on the cards to reality."
Her fingers glided lightly over the backs of the cards:
"Especially when divining for important figures..."
Chloe "looked" toward Ron, those eyes covered by black silk seeming able to see through everything:
"The higher an existence's status, the harder their fate is to glimpse."
"Because their 'self' is too powerful, and will instinctively reject any outside 'observation.'"
"For someone like Professor Ralph..."
She spread her hands:
"To be honest, my divination might not even reach one percent accuracy before him."
"Then why play?"
Eve tilted her head in confusion.
"Just treat it as entertainment."
Chloe began to shuffle, her fingers deftly flipping, interlacing, and rearranging the cards:
"And besides, divination can sometimes 'inspire thought.'"
"By interpreting the symbolic meaning of the cards, we can examine our current situation from another angle."
"Even if it only has 1% reference value..."
Her fingers lightly stroked the faces of the cards. "It's still better than being completely blind."
Ron nodded, likewise somewhat interested.
"Well said."
Although she kept being modest, he had in fact benefited from divination countless times already.
