Xue Xi and Jia Yi arrived at the location of the shop. It was a restaurant spanning more than three hundred square meters, fully equipped with all sorts of facilities. The menu board on the screen was still empty, so Xue Xi simply copied the menu from her own restaurant and put it up.
As for the virtual dishes, Xue Xi planned to add them one by one after she got back. They would probably be much cheaper, though; most likely, the modified effects wouldn't work in the virtual world.
After taking care of everything, Xue Xi and Jia Yi left the War God Palace.
It felt just like waking up from a nap. Xue Xi took off her helmet and set it on the table beside her, smoothed her slightly tousled hair, then stood and bade Jia Yi farewell. "Elder Jia, thank you for looking after me this time. I came to the Base City to buy some brewing equipment for the new Highland Barley Wine, though. It's getting late, so I should get going."
Jia Yi stood to see her off. "All right. If you run into any trouble, just contact me. This old man still has a bit of influence in Huaxia."
When they reached the entrance, Jia Yi seemed to remember something. "Hearing that you're buying brewing equipment reminded me of something, Xue Xi. Could you brew a little extra? The Huaxia Military Region plans to buy it in bulk. With this wine supporting us, I'm sure casualties in our war against the Monsters will drop significantly. Our soldiers really need it!"
Xue Xi thought it over, then agreed. "No problem. I'll let you know first as soon as it's ready."
As she was leaving, she quietly whispered in Jia Yi's ear, "I'll give you a fifty percent discount. Don't tell anyone, or everyone will ask me for the same deal, and I'll never build up my little nest egg." Then she hopped aboard a City Light Rail train and headed for her destination.
Jia Yi watched the train disappear, his eyes full of fondness. "What a good kid. What a pity, what a pity." He had wanted to become closer to the adorable girl, but his own little one was still too young.
The sky had already brightened. Xue Xi leaned against the train window, gazing out at the city cloaked in the morning sun. Its technological style was completely different from that of her previous life. Fighter jets occasionally streaked across the sky and landed somewhere in the city, filling it with vitality and energy.
Just then, a gentle announcement came over the train's speakers. "Dear passengers, we have arrived at HR Mall Station. Passengers getting off, please—"
Xue Xi stood and got off the train. Her destination was the HR Alliance. As the largest business alliance on Earth, it was said that there was nothing you couldn't buy there—only things you hadn't thought of.
As she entered the extravagantly luxurious mall, a receptionist hurried over, displaying excellent professionalism. "Hello, miss. Xue Xi looked at Xu Xin in delighted surprise. "Sister Xin, aren't you at university? What are you doing here?"
Xu Xin held a pen in one hand and put the other on her hip, shooting Xue Xi a playful, haughty look. "It's Saturday, my dear Boss Xue. And I'm the eldest daughter of the Xu Family. Is it really so surprising that I'd come to the family business to get familiar with things in advance?"
Xue Xi scratched her head, then suddenly understood. "Oh, right. It's Saturday. I've been out of school so long, I don't even know what day of the week it is anymore."
Then the two looked at each other and burst into laughter. People around them glanced over curiously, and Xu Xin took Xue Xi by the hand. "Come on, let's chat in my office."
Once they reached a spacious office, Xu Xin sat down elegantly, crossing her long legs clad in black stockings. "Xue Xi, you came to the Base City without telling me in advance. If I hadn't happened to be interning in this district, were you planning to sneak in and sneak out without a word?"
Xu Xin leaned in playfully and ruffled Xue Xi's chestnut hair until it was a mess. Xue Xi gave an awkward little laugh. That really had been her plan. "Of course not. Then Xu Xin happily pinched Xue Xi's cheek. "That's wonderful! From now on, I'll have a High-Level War God sister to protect me."
Xue Xi nodded seriously too. "If anyone dares bully you, just tell me. I'll teach them a lesson for you."
