"What did you say?!" Hermione shrieked in disbelief, nearly dropping the wand in her hand!
That twin wand, the one that left Harry with his scar...
So, that wand was actually in the hands of Voldemort!!
"Indeed, thirteen and a half inches, yew... but that is precisely why it is so strange!" Ollivander muttered to himself in disbelief. "If this wand had chosen Mr. Granger, I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest. But why, why would it be Miss Granger..."
"Mr. Ollivander, could you tell me, is there anything special about two wands with twin cores?" Harry asked with utmost seriousness.
This wand, which had been so eager to accept Hermione, actually shared a twin core with the wand in Voldemort's possession. The development of events was clearly exceeding Harry's expectations.
"Oh, of course there is!" Ollivander hurriedly explained. "When two wands with twin cores work together against an enemy, the magic they unleash is ten times greater than normal!"
"Furthermore, if these two wands were to engage in a duel, they... wait! Could it be that this is the true reason the Holly Wand chose Miss Granger?!"
Ollivander looked at Hermione carefully, then stared at Harry for a long time, seemingly unsure of his own conjecture.
"In any case, this must be the most suitable wand for Miss Granger." Ollivander shook his head, seemingly unwilling to continue the topic. "Mr. Granger, it is now time for you to choose a suitable wand."
"I don't think I need to choose," Harry replied, shaking his head in refusal. "There isn't a wand here that suits me."
Since Ollivander was unwilling to say more, Harry did not press the issue.
As for his own wand, that was unnecessary.
Just now, while helping Hermione choose her wand, Harry had listened to the connection these wands had with his own magic, but unfortunately, he could not find a single one that resonated perfectly with his power.
And the reasons these wands rejected him were surprisingly consistent: they couldn't provide him with much help, so choosing one would only be a burden.
However, the Holly Wand in Hermione's hand had once responded to Harry's magic.
It just felt that it would be more appropriate for Hermione to hold it.
"Is that so... that is truly a pity~"
Ollivander was a bit bewildered by Harry's antics by now, so even though Harry ultimately decided not to buy a wand, he didn't launch into another long-winded speech. Instead, he happily collected the 7 Galleons and ushered the two of them out of the shop.
"Harry, is it really okay for you not to buy a wand?" Hermione asked anxiously after they left the wand shop.
A wand was not only a necessity for new students, but also a necessity for all wizards!
Hermione truly didn't know how Harry would get through his life at Hogwarts without a wand.
"I actually feel that thing is of no use to me."
Harry shrugged nonchalantly. As someone about to drop out, he wasn't like Hermione, who was preparing to pursue advanced studies in magic. What would he need a wand for? To clean his ears?
However, knowing Hermione's persistent nature, Harry reached out and took her Holly Wand.
"Hermione, if you're really worried, I can use your wand temporarily when I need to."
With a light flick of his wrist, a gentle flow of magic coursed through the wand, and a small firework burst from its tip.
"This... how can you use it too?"
Hermione was startled by Harry's action. Although she was a novice witch, she generally knew that private items like wands shouldn't be easily used by others.
"Didn't Ollivander say earlier that the wand chooses the wizard~" Harry said with a cheeky grin. "Maybe the Holly Wand is doing it for your sake, which is why it agreed to let me use it temporarily."
"When you put it that way, it does seem to make sense~" Hermione pondered for a moment, then nodded vigorously. "It must be because the wand knows I'm your sister, so it allowed you to borrow it!"
"You're overthinking it, that's definitely not the reason!"
"I say it is!"
With the wand issue resolved, Hermione was clearly in a great mood.
And so, bickering along the way, they arrived at the final shop: Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions.
However, at the entrance of the shop, Hermione nearly collided with someone...
Chapter 26: The Silence Spell is Activated Physically
"Hey, you're blocking my path."
At the entrance of Madam Malkin's, walking toward Harry and Hermione, was a blond boy who looked to be about their age.
He kept his chin held high as he faced them, his tone seemingly etched with a natural sense of arrogance.
"Sorry."
The other party was clearly the type Harry didn't want to deal with, so he didn't want to say anything more to this guy and led Hermione aside to clear the way.
However, the other boy seemed quite interested in him.
"Wait, are you Harry Potter?" After a careful look, the blond boy recognized Harry's identity, and his entire demeanor turned into one of great surprise.
"I never expected to run into you here!" The blond boy smiled happily. "I'm Draco, from the Malfoy family. You should have heard of our family name. But honestly, when I heard my father mention it, I truly couldn't understand why you would pass up so many pure-blood families and choose to live with a Muggle family instead? You should know, even the dirt-poor Weasley family is better than..."
"I think this conversation can end here." Harry interrupted Malfoy's rambling coldly. "First, choosing which family to be adopted into is my freedom; second, I have never heard of your family name; and finally... my surname is Granger now!"
"What did you say?!" Who would have thought that when Malfoy heard Harry's last sentence, he would widen his eyes in disbelief!
"You just said... what is your surname? Granger? Good heavens, why would you take such a terrible surname?!"
"So what if Harry's surname is Granger?" Hermione stepped forward, arguing indignantly. "Harry is the child our family adopted, he's my younger brother, why can't he have the same surname as us? Besides... what's so terrible about my family's name?!"
"What would you know?!" Malfoy glared at Hermione excitedly. "Harry Granger, don't you think that name is ridiculous? A child born into a wizarding family, actually carrying a Muggle surname... wait, you said he's your brother?!"
"That's right! I'm his sister, Hermione Granger. Do you have a problem with that?"
Hermione hooked her arm through Harry's in a show of defiance, the expression on her face—the look of a sister ready to back her brother up—was impossibly obvious.
"A problem... hmph, you don't have the right to question me!" Malfoy sneered mockingly at Hermione. "You're just a Mudblood born to a Muggle family..."
A crisp sound rang out, and the entire crowd was stunned!
Malfoy didn't get to finish his last word, and a distinct slap mark appeared on his face. Opposite him, Harry had just retracted his swinging arm.
"Ugh... you, you dare hit me?!"
Malfoy was stunned by the sudden slap. It took him a long moment to snap out of his daze and begin to shriek and stomp his feet.
It was also at this moment that the onlookers finally reacted to what had just happened.
Everyone present, including Hermione, never expected that Harry would actually strike without a second thought!
"Draco Malfoy, is it? I must give you a very serious warning..." Harry stepped forward and grabbed Malfoy by the collar of his robes. "The word you were about to say just now—you had better never let me hear it again! Otherwise, the consequences won't be as simple as a single slap!!"
To be honest, Harry didn't know exactly what Malfoy had intended to say to Hermione, but from the other boy's tone and demeanor, he could roughly infer that it was a word even more unacceptable than 'Muggle'!
So... if he didn't snuff him out before he could say it, was he supposed to just let him speak?
"Harry..."
Hermione stared blankly at Harry, who had stood up for her so forcefully. The words she had intended to use to persuade him not to cause trouble were all swallowed back down.
The Holly Wand in her pocket was pulsing; in that moment, Hermione felt she understood a little more... why a wand would choose its master.
"Damn you! Harry, you asked for this!" Malfoy shoved Harry's hand away and, to everyone's surprise, whipped out his own wand!
He was absolutely furious. When he had first recognized Harry, he thought that after a bit of conversation, the other boy could be his friend.
Yet, Malfoy never expected that Harry would not only choose to bear a Muggle surname but even slap him for the sake of a Mudblood!
This was simply too much!
Harry Potter, he was throwing himself away!!
And so, Malfoy decided to use the spell he had just learned to teach Harry and that filthy Mudblood beside him a lesson!
For instance... he could set a fire and burn their hair off~
"Learning to duel before you've even started school? That's fine by me~" Harry stepped forward, taking a stance with his bare hands. "Bring it on."
"Harry, you can't do this, you have to use a wand!"
Seeing this, Hermione hurried forward, wanting to hand her wand to Harry, but Harry refused.
"Hermione, don't worry. I've learned the Physical Silence Spell; his magic won't take effect."
"Silence Spell... what kind of spell is that?" Hermione blinked in confusion. She had never heard of the 'Silence Spell' Harry was talking about.
"Don't make me laugh! There isn't a single spell in this world called the Silence Spell!" Across from him, Malfoy had already raised his wand at Harry!
"Take this! Incendio—"
Bang!!
Before Malfoy could finish the last word, Harry suddenly lunged forward, a straight punch slamming directly into Malfoy's mouth!
"Ah!!" Malfoy couldn't help but let out a miserable scream, his nose and gums bleeding profusely!
Harry clearly wasn't satisfied with his results. He swung his fists, pummeling the other boy until his face was bruised and swollen, and then casually snatched the wand from Malfoy's hand.
"Focus your mind, channel your magic, wave your wand, chant the incantation... as a rookie wizard, don't you think the steps to cast magic are a bit too cumbersome?"
Harry looked down at Malfoy, who was clutching his cheeks and howling. He had wanted to snap the wand in half, but after a second thought, he chose to toss it aside.
A wand held special significance, after all. Harry just wanted to teach him a lesson, not make a mortal enemy; there was no need to go that far.
"This... is what you call a Silence Spell?"
Hermione looked down at Malfoy, who had been taken down by a flurry of wild punches, then looked at Harry, who stood beside her with an air of arrogance. She was completely dumbfounded.
What kind of Silence Spell was this?!
"Why wouldn't this be called a Silence Spell?" Harry dug at his ear, looking as if she were making a fuss over nothing. "This is a Physical Silence Spell. The effect is much better than an ordinary charm~"
Hermione: "I'll believe that when pigs fly!"
"Who is causing trouble here... Harry Potter? Did you beat Draco into this state?"
A middle-aged man in black robes quickly pushed through the crowd. When he saw Malfoy's 'miserable state,' his face instantly clouded over with gloom.
"Heh, another one shows up~" Harry shrugged dismissively at the sight.
Just by looking at his hair and temperament, it was obvious this middle-aged man was Malfoy's father.
Beat the small one, and the old one comes out. These wizards were really no different from ordinary humans.
"Harry, Hermione? How did you get into a conflict with the Malfoy family?!" On the other side of the crowd, a giant man carrying a birdcage was also hurrying over.
Hagrid had arrived too!
Chapter 27: Quirrell Doesn't Dare Shake Hands with Harry
"Draco, come here and tell me exactly what happened."
"Yes, Father! I'm telling you, Harry Potter, he's gone too far! This guy actually chose to take on a lowly Muggle surname!"
Hearing his father's call, Malfoy scrambled over in a hurry, beginning to embellish the story as he recounted to the middle-aged man exactly what kind of unfair treatment he had just endured.
"Mr. Malfoy, in my opinion, this must be a misunderstanding." Hagrid picked up Malfoy's wand and handed it to Lucius, "Harry and your son were just having a bit of a spat, like children do."
"I am perfectly capable of judging the situation for myself!" Lucius snatched the wand from Hagrid's hand, looking down with a sharp, cold sneer, "Now, keep your distance. Rubeus Hagrid, do you expect me to look up at you while we converse?!"
"Well... whatever makes you happy, I suppose~" Hagrid shrugged helplessly.
He did not step away, but he didn't stay put either, merely shifting his position slightly to stand behind Harry and Hermione.
Clearly, he understood exactly what kind of foul habits Lucius possessed.
Taking advantage of this moment, Harry also took a rough look at the middle-aged man before him.
Pale gold hair reaching his shoulders, icy blue eyes flashing with a cunning that was both serpentine and fox-like, and a pale face bearing the same deep-seated arrogance as his son's... this was Lucius Malfoy in Harry's eyes.
It had to be said, the first impression was quite poor~
In Harry's view, Lucius seemed to have gathered nearly every flaw found in those self-important British aristocrats.
"Harry Potter," no longer bothering with the Hagrid he had to crane his neck to address, Lucius shifted his gaze to look down at Harry with contempt, "I had thought that choosing to be adopted by a Muggle family was the most foolish decision you could possibly make. I didn't expect your stupidity to escalate even further!"
"So, acting like a savage and throwing punches at a noble Pure-blood Wizard is what you've learned from that inferior new surname of yours!"
"..." Hearing these words, Harry's expression turned uncontrollably grim, and he began to clench his fists.
He was truly starting to hate the wizarding world more and more, especially these self-important Pure-blood Wizards!
