The morning bustle of Lubo Lane flowed over the cobblestones like a ceaseless stream.
"Thank you, Mr. Gallo. Thanks to you, I finally understand the key points in this book."
A female student wearing the uniform of the Imperial Industrial University stood up and bowed to thank Gallo. She packed away the notes she had filled with several pages of content along with the thick engineering textbook, paid a one-Copper Nil banknote, and offered one last word of thanks before departing.
"A female engineering student—a future female engineer. That's truly rare." This was the first time Gallo had ever encountered a girl studying engineering at the Imperial Industrial University. He tucked away the one-Copper Nil banknote she had paid, took a slow sip of his Ceylon Black Tea, and waited for his next client.
He was only working the morning shift today; he had plans to go out with a friend in the afternoon, starting with a trip to Fengman Bank to cash the two promissory notes Sacia had paid him.
After that, he would look around the neighborhood for a suitable apartment.
There were several nice apartment buildings on Scholar Road right next to Lubo Lane, and since it was very close, it would only take two or three minutes to walk there.
The environment on Qiangman Street to the south was quite pleasant. Although it took about ten minutes to walk there, the surroundings were truly beautiful. Many middle-class citizens lived there, and it was a standard high-end residential area, though the downside for him was that the rent might be quite high.
Hmm... there were also apartment complexes on Lunde Road to the east, and several banks were located there as well. The downside was that the foot traffic was too heavy and there were too many shops on both sides. While it was very prosperous, the crowds were too noisy, and he didn't yet know how the noise levels were in the residential areas over there.
Just as he was thinking about suitable places to rent nearby and had lifted his Ceylon Black Tea, a subtle yet distinct ripple passed through his keen Inspiration, brushing lightly across the lake of his consciousness.
It was a geometric pattern—a standard equilateral triangle containing a precise circle, with stable lines and uniform ink density.
"Hmm?"
Gallo's hand holding the teacup froze in mid-air. This image had appeared in his mind for no reason, which was highly unusual, especially since he was now a Psionic.
Any image or whisper that appeared in one's mind without cause had to be treated with caution.
His Inspiration stirred, and he quickly traced the source of the image.
It was the notebook that Gallo had handed to Sacia "the day before yesterday."
When Clovin's men raided the ritual site of Sacia and her group yesterday, that notebook must have been taken by them. But what were they doing now? Were they attempting to use this notebook to track him?
Gallo set his teacup down on the table. As a powerful official force of the Empire, Clovin had trained Psionics in their ranks, but when it came to Subspace and basic Psionic knowledge, what Clovin possessed was truly meager.
In the eyes of Gallo, who possessed a vast amount of Subspace knowledge through Knowledge Lv1, the Subspace knowledge Clovin grasped was nothing more than a chaotic pile of garbage they had cobbled together themselves.
They were like a group of children exploring a strange world—ignorant and bold.
Just like last time on Higgins Street, in Jeffrey's apartment, a high-level investigator had actually released his own Inspiration to sense an area highly contaminated by Subspace energy. Only a fool would do such a thing.
Gallo calmed his emotions and slowly exhaled. He did not immediately use remote viewing to check the environment where the notebook was located. If there happened to be a Clovin Psionic on the scene, and his remote viewing was met by those bold fellows recklessly releasing their Inspiration, those people would suffer a heavy blow, just like the guy from before.
He wasn't some kind of evil god; he just wanted to live a stable life in this strange world and take good care of his family.
Perhaps Clovin's people weren't using the notebook to trace his origin; they might just be investigating what the notebook's purpose was.
In truth, Gallo had almost forgotten about that notebook. He hadn't expected Clovin to not only find it but to immediately begin researching it.
What surprised him even more was that after the notebook had been tainted by his Psionic energy, it seemed to have established an extremely subtle and direct channel of connection.
After the geometric pattern in his mind vanished, not even a few seconds passed before a chaotic, meaningless mess of scribbled lines flooded into his mind like a tide, nearly causing Gallo to choke on his own saliva.
His Inspiration instinctively wanted to trigger a barrier to isolate this "visual noise."
But Gallo hesitated for a moment. In the end, he did not use his Inspiration to build a barrier to block the content originating from the notebook; he still wanted to see what else these Clovin people could do.
If the other party continued to send nonsensical scribbles through the notebook, Gallo would simply establish a Psionic barrier and sever the Psionic connection between his Inspiration and that notebook.
But immediately afterward, a line of clear text information was transmitted through the notebook's connection: "What is the use of this notebook?"
The question was simple and direct, carrying a clear intent to probe.
A thought took shape in his mind.
As the official force of the Empire, this notebook could become a window for him to make contact and communicate privately, without going through official channels.
With the mindset of establishing preliminary communication, he drove his Spirituality through the spiritual connection channel with the notebook, projecting his response onto the paper surface at the other end:
[It can communicate and exchange with me.]—This was Gallo's honesty.
Following that, he thought of the chaotic scribbles the other party had sent earlier, which had irritated him. To prevent them from writing meaningless content in the notebook, Gallo immediately added a new reply through his Spirituality: [You don't need to continue testing!]
Sure enough, there was a moment of silence on the other end.
Just as Gallo thought the tester might have been baffled by the emotionally charged reply, or perhaps feared that further communication might provoke the dissatisfaction of the notebook's source.
Next, the other party sent another line of information through the notebook's spiritual connection:
[Who are you?]
Gallo picked up his teacup and took a slow, leisurely sip.
The warm liquid moistened his throat and gave him a brief moment to think.
Identity was an unavoidable question.
Exposing his real-life identity was absolutely out of the question.
He recalled the dark humor he had used when tampering with the ritual scripts, and the honorific Gallo had used when Sacia Taylor paid fifty Nalang for the translated manuscripts.
He drove his Spirituality once more, letting the invisible force carrying the information condense into shape on the notebook's paper:
[I have been given many names in different eras and different dimensions.]
[Recently, a group of people has referred to me as the "Holy True Lord".]
