〖Master, Master, why did you cut the connection? Did I say something wrong? Sigh~ Honestly, humans are so hard to understand. Sigh〗
Under the streetlamp, seeing Senba Gari cut off the communication, Silver Phantom said with a sense of depression.
Back inside Otonokizaka, after cutting the connection with Silver Phantom, Senba Gari's face was gloomy and veins were bulging on his forehead, yet he kept muttering to himself.
"Calm down, calm down. Today is my first day teaching; I can't leave a bad impression on the students. Calm down, calm down. Inhale~ Exhale~"
He took another deep breath and prepared to head toward the chairwoman's office, but then he remembered something very important.
"Where is Aunt Minami's office?!"
Well, this guy was actually lost.
-The boy is searching for the way-
At this moment, in the courtyard of Otonokizaka, Eli Ayase was walking along a path with her good friend Nozomi Tojo. Seeing the worried look on Eli Ayase's face, Nozomi Tojo spoke up.
"Ara, Eli-chi, are you worried about Otonokizaka being shut down, or are you worried about that unknown senior from the other day~"
After a slight pause, Nozomi Tojo leaned close to Eli Ayase's ear and spoke. Once she finished, she playfully blew into her ear, which ended up giving Eli Ayase a start.
"Waa! Nozomi, you, what are you saying? I, I am not worried about, about that pervert."
Whether it was because of Nozomi Tojo's breath or some other unknown reason, two blushes appeared on Eli Ayase's face, making her look incredibly alluring.
Just as Eli Ayase was about to say something more, a familiar voice made her freeze, and Nozomi Tojo beside her was equally stunned.
"Um, excuse me, do you know where the chairwoman's office is?"
Eli Ayase regained her senses and turned around. After seeing the person who had arrived:
"Why is it you?!" ×2
--The girl is stunned--
"Ahhh! I should have asked Aunt Minami to make it clear from the start."
Senba Gari was walking alone on the path toward the courtyard. When he reached the courtyard and saw two familiar figures—one gold and one purple—he didn't think much and walked directly behind them before asking.
"Um, excuse me, do you know where the chairwoman's office is?"
But the two girls in front were clearly stunned. Was it an illusion? Why did they feel increasingly familiar?
When the girl with the golden ponytail turned around, Senba Gari finally remembered who she was, and both of them said in shock:
"Why is it you?!" ×2
Seeing how shocked they both were, Nozomi Tojo, though also surprised, stepped between them to break the deadlock.
"Ahem, um, Senior, how did you get in? It's not time for the school to be open to outsiders during the holidays yet."
"That's right, how did you get in?"
Suddenly hearing the questions from Nozomi Tojo, who had just walked over, and Eli Ayase in front of him, Senba Gari said to them:
"Oh, I almost forgot. Since you are students here, hurry and take me to your chairwoman's office. I was only able to get in because your chairwoman gave me permission."
"Eh, is that so? Then, Senior, please come with us. After all, we still have to thank you for saving our lives that time."
Saying this, Nozomi Tojo took Eli Ayase's hand and led Senba Gari toward the chairwoman's office.
"Well, no need to thank me. I was just being a busybody. Also, there's no need to call me 'Senior' anymore; I'm only a year or two older than you. Just call me Senba Gari."
As he spoke, Senba Gari followed behind Nozomi Tojo and Eli Ayase. Upon hearing Senba Gari introduce himself, Nozomi Tojo said to him:
"Is that so? Then we'll call you Senba-senpai. Also, I am the student council vice-president, Nozomi Tojo. You can just call me Nozomi, and she is our student council president, Eli Ayase."
With that, Nozomi Tojo said to Eli Ayase:
"Eli-chi, aren't you going to say something?"
"Senba Gari, so that's his name."
"Eli-chi?"
Seeing that Eli Ayase didn't respond, Nozomi Tojo leaned toward her face and asked with a puzzled look.
"Ah, ah, Nozomi, is something wrong?"
Eli Ayase was startled by Nozomi Tojo's face suddenly leaning in, and she asked her with a confused expression.
"Something is wrong. I just happened to notice our Eli-chi seemed to be lost in thought~"
As she spoke, Nozomi Tojo looked at Eli Ayase with a teasing expression.
"W-what! I, I wasn't! Alright, we're here! This is the chairwoman's office."
Eli Ayase, who had been a bit flustered, suddenly took a few quick steps forward and said.
"I see, thank you both."
Senba Gari thanked the two girls and opened the door to walk inside, but then:
"Why did you two come in too?"
Becoming a Teacher at Otonokizaka (Part 2)
"Why did you two come in too?"
Senba Gari looked at the two girls behind him with a puzzled expression.
"Hmph, we just happened to have something to discuss with the chairwoman."
Eli Ayase said to Senba Gari, though, my dear girl, there is still a blush on your face.
"Is that so? Fine, Aunt Minami, I'm here."
Watching the girl's reaction, Senba Gari turned around helplessly and spoke to Kotori Minami, who was sitting behind the office desk.
Kotori Minami looked up and saw Senba Gari standing before her with Eli Ayase behind him, then she spoke up.
"Why are you only just arriving now, little Gari?"
"Isn't it because you didn't tell me where to find you, Aunt Minami? You left me wandering around this school while enduring the strange looks from all those girls!"
"Eh, did I not tell you?"
"No!"
As he spoke, Senba Gari glared at Kotori Minami with resentment, his eyes seemingly saying, 'If you don't explain yourself, Aunt Minami, I'm walking out right now.'
Understanding the look in his eyes, Kotori Minami placed several items from the desk in front of Senba Gari and said.
"It might be because the recent news of Otonokizaka closing down made me forget to mention it. Also, here is your teaching certificate for Otonokizaka, along with the student roster for the classes you'll be teaching and the teaching materials. After all, you can't be a teacher here without these."
"Oh, thank you, Aunt Minami."
As he spoke, Senba Gari picked up the teaching certificate and the other items Kotori Minami had placed before him to take a look, but then he recalled something she had just said.
"Wait, closing down?!"
"Being a teacher?!" ×2
At the same time, Nozomi Tojo and Eli Ayase reacted to what Kotori Minami had said and shouted in surprise.
"Whoa! You two are so loud, you almost scared me to death."
However, Eli Ayase ignored Senba Gari's complaint and argued with Kotori Minami.
"Chairwoman, you can't be serious! This guy is only a year older than us, and we don't even know if he has the capability to do this!"
"There's no other choice. Because Otonokizaka is closing, some teachers have resigned and left, and with the school closing, it's become very difficult to find new ones. Besides, little Gari, why don't you prove it to student Ayase?"
Then, Kotori Minami spoke to Senba Gari, who had been left on the sidelines and was still a bit confused.
"Ah, a proof? Will this work?"
As he spoke, Senba Gari took his phone out of his pocket, tapped the screen a few times, and held it out in front of Eli Ayase.
When Eli Ayase looked at the content on Senba Gari's phone screen, she froze instantly, and Nozomi Tojo, who was standing beside her, leaned in curiously and froze as well.
When Senba Gari put his phone away, both of them snapped out of it at the same time, looking at him with strange expressions. Then, Eli Ayase spoke up.
"You... an archaeologist! And a doctor at that?!"
"Yeah, yeah, I heard you. It's all because of that idiot father of mine, saying that if I wanted to join his archaeological research, I had to get a doctorate. It's enough already. Also, Aunt Minami, what is this about the school closing?"
Ignoring the strange expressions on Eli Ayase and Nozomi Tojo's faces, he asked Kotori Minami.
"That is an unavoidable factor. The number of students enrolling at Otonokizaka has failed to meet the standards. This year, there is only one class for the first years, two for the second years, and three for the third years. That is why Otonokizaka is being forced to close."
After hearing Kotori Minami's explanation, Senba Gari's brows furrowed, and he said to her.
"Aunt Minami, are you just going to watch Otonokizaka close down like this?!"
"Unless there is a way to increase student enrollment, the closure is inevitable. If I could, I wouldn't want to close it either. After all, this is the school that both I and your late mother, Yukine, loved the most."
Kotori Minami's eyes dimmed as she spoke. Seeing the look in her eyes, Senba Gari sighed slightly, then remembered something and asked.
"By the way, Aunt Minami, I still don't know which classes I'll be teaching."
"About that, I'm afraid you'll have to work a bit harder. You'll be teaching three classes across the three grades. There's only one first-year class, so we'll ignore that. For the second years, it's Kotori's class, and you'll be their homeroom teacher. As for the third years, it's the class of student Ayase here."
"I see. That does sound like a lot of work. Well, Aunt Minami, I'm going to go check on my classes now."
As he spoke, Senba Gari prepared to turn and leave, and Eli Ayase spoke to Kotori Minami as well.
"Then, Chairwoman, we shall take our leave as well."
With that, she and Nozomi Tojo followed Senba Gari out of the room.
"Hmm, didn't you two have something to discuss with the chairwoman? Why did you come out with me?"
Senba Gari asked the two girls beside him with a puzzled look, and Nozomi Tojo spoke before Eli Ayase could.
"Well, the reason we wanted to see the chairwoman was actually because of the school closure. But after hearing the conversation between you, 'Teacher' Senba, and the chairwoman, we felt that it might be impossible to convince her, so there was no point in staying. Don't you agree, Eri-chi?"
As she spoke, Nozomi Tojo looked at Eli Ayase, who nodded dejectedly. However, Senba Gari's next words caught their attention.
"Well, being called 'teacher' is still something I'm not used to, but there actually is a way to prevent Otonokizaka from closing."
"Really?! Please, tell us, Teacher Senba."
After hearing Senba Gari's words, Nozomi Tojo asked him with a curious expression, and even Eli Ayase looked at him with curiosity.
Seeing that both of them were looking at him with interest, Senba Gari continued.
"I think you know that I used to work as an archaeologist, so I often traveled the world with my father and saw quite a lot. Otonokizaka closing down is just a matter of time. The reason is that this school doesn't have anything that leaves a lasting impression, and it's a girls' school. You have to realize that Otonokizaka is a traditional girls' school, and while there aren't many of them, there are still quite a few. For instance, there's the UTX girls' school nearby, and there are also co-ed schools. So, if you want to avoid closure, you have to make changes. As for how to change, one way is to change the school's tradition from a traditional girls' school to a co-ed one. But I think Aunt Minami has thought of that, and I suspect she doesn't want to do it. So, there is only one other way: to make another kind of change, which is to become famous. And it has to be the kind of fame that leaves a deep impression. Just like when I mention Akihabara, some people immediately think of the figures there. So, this is the only method that doesn't destroy the original tradition of the girls' school. Well, as for how to do it, that's up to you to figure out. After all, I've only just returned, so I don't know much about it yet."
After finishing his sentence, Senba Gari looked at the two girls deep in thought before him, but a sudden girl's scream from the distance interrupted their train of thought.
"Abolished! Abolished! Abolished school!!!"
Becoming a Teacher at Otonokizaka (Part 2)
School closure.
These two realistic and cruel words were posted on the bulletin board in the hallway.
"You're kidding, right...?" Honoka Kosaka's pupils dilated, unable to believe the notice before her.
"Discontinued?" Minami Kotori frowned, speaking in a slightly weak voice.
"In other words, the school is going to disappear, right?" Umi Sonoda looked at the bulletin board with a serious expression.
"Awoo..." Honoka slumped backward like a deflated balloon, but fortunately, Umi Sonoda and Minami Kotori behind her grabbed her shoulders just in time.
"Honoka!"
"Honoka, what's wrong?!"
The two called out simultaneously, but Honoka seemed not to hear them; she stared blankly at the ceiling, tears welling up in the corners of her eyes.
"My, my... glorious high school life is about to..." After saying this, Honoka lost consciousness.
--Perspective Shift--
In the distance, Senba Gari had black lines hanging over his head, his mouth twitching slightly as he watched Umi Sonoda and Minami Kotori frantically carry Honoka Kosaka toward the infirmary, before he turned to look at Eli Ayase and Nozomi Tojo, who also had black lines hanging over their heads and twitching mouths, and spoke speechlessly.
"Although I knew the news that Otonokizaka was closing might be hard for some students here to accept, isn't this a bit too extreme?!"
"Ha, haha."
After hearing Senba Gari's words, Eli Ayase and Nozomi Tojo only offered awkward laughs, and then Senba Gari continued.
"Sigh~ It seems being a teacher here won't be easy. Alright, I'm heading to the second-year classroom now. As for how to solve the school closure issue, I can only tell you this much; how you proceed from here is your problem."
"No, Senba-sensei, being able to tell us this has already given us a great deal of hope, so we should be the ones thanking you, teacher."
