"Are you certain I stole something?" Kamuro Masumi spoke with a tough front, yet she nervously peeked at his reaction.
"Kamuro-san, please don't doubt me. I can see the scene from back then in your eyes," Suzuki Toru lowered his voice, as if he were revealing some sort of secret. "The technique was beautiful, and you managed to avoid the gaze of both the cameras and the shop staff, then nonchalantly tucked the item into your bag. I didn't see that wrong, did I?"
His voice was like a devil's whisper. Kamuro Masumi froze completely, not knowing how to react.
Suzuki Toru glanced at her; her reaction was quite something.
It was nothing more than a standard cold-reading technique, much like a classic horoscope; by intentionally saying vague things, people would subconsciously try to fit themselves into the narrative.
Therefore, Kamuro Masumi was now subconsciously following his lead, fitting herself into the trap.
"So what if I did? Whether you want to tell on me or do whatever else, go right ahead. I don't care about such trivial matters," Kamuro Masumi's tone turned stiff. She tried hard to recall the scene of every theft, yet she still couldn't see any sign of Suzuki Toru.
The more she thought about it, the more flustered she became. Who on earth was this guy?
"In that case, why don't you let me look underneath?"
Hearing the noise, Sakayanagi Arisu turned her head to look. She saw Kamuro Masumi's pretty face looking like frost, her eyes glaring hatefully at Suzuki Toru, while the latter remained calm.
Sakayanagi Arisu blinked. What were these two doing again?
Chapter 26: Let's Talk for a Bit
"Let go of me, Suzuki," Kamuro Masumi threatened him with her eyes.
"I can, but you have to promise me you won't kick me, and that you'll step on me while wearing pantyhose," Suzuki Toru looked at the wish on her person. There was only a wish to be stepped on by her jade-like feet, not a wish to be kicked by her.
"Disgusting. Who would ever satisfy such a lewd request?" Kamuro Masumi's face was icy, though the fact that Suzuki Toru was still holding her small foot added a sense of humiliation to the situation.
Just moments ago, upon hearing Suzuki Toru's request, she had tried to kick him without a second thought.
Unexpectedly, Suzuki Toru dodged it in advance as if he had anticipated it, and simultaneously grabbed her ankle in return. The two of them had such synergy it was as if they had practiced it countless times; she had delivered herself right to him like a bot.
"I'm flattered by the praise," Suzuki Toru let go of her foot. Whether it was due to her constitution or not, he couldn't help but feel that her calves were slender yet possessed a sense of strength, and the texture of the pantyhose felt like stroking mutton-fat jade—warm and soft.
"Do you get kicked often?" Kamuro Masumi was very suspicious of Suzuki Toru; otherwise, why would he be so practiced at this?
"No, you're the first."
"Can you stop saying such disgusting things!"
"Do you want to change the subject?"
"Change it!"
"Why do you shoplift?"
Kamuro Masumi, who had been somewhat impatient, suddenly froze, then revealed a mocking expression: "Don't tell me you're going to threaten me with that too?"
"I originally intended to report you to the shop staff and the school the moment you shoplifted," Suzuki Toru stated his thoughts from a short while ago. After all, she had a similar wish on her.
"If that's the case, why haven't you reported me yet?" Kamuro Masumi said coldly.
"For the sake of future benefits, the risk of doing so is too high. It might cause you to loathe me and lead to our relationship breaking down, so I won't report you," Suzuki Toru explained with great patience.
"The so-called benefits refer to satisfying your lewd thoughts?" Kamuro Masumi's gaze became even more hostile.
"There won't be too many," Suzuki Toru crossed out a few lines in his notebook.
Kamuro Masumi snorted coldly, not wanting to talk to him any further, and even moved a bit further away in disgust.
Lunch break.
Kamuro Masumi followed Sakayanagi Arisu's pace, and the two walked out of the classroom together. Many students were also leaving the classroom one after another.
Of course, there were also some students who stayed in the classroom; they seemed to have bought their bento boxes in advance.
Suzuki Toru arrived at the cafeteria alone. He could see that many people had already gathered there, including plenty of second and third-year students.
Someone placed an order for a vegetable set meal with a troubled expression; this was the only set meal provided for free by the cafeteria.
Suzuki Toru had the fortune of tasting it once. His evaluation was that it was decent enough as an occasional diet meal, but if one had to eat this kind of thing every day, they would definitely throw up.
The students who ordered the vegetable set meal were basically upperclassmen. Any student who still had points would not choose this.
However, Suzuki Toru noticed that no freshmen seemed to have noticed this problem.
Should he call it a tragedy?
"Suzuki, do you have time right now?" A familiar male voice suddenly came from behind.
Looking back, he saw Katsuragi Kohei and Totsuka Yahiko standing to the side, the latter of whom was blatantly looking him up and down with a suspicious gaze.
"I do, but is there something you need, Katsuragi-san?" Suzuki Toru placed an order for the daily special set meal at the counter; he didn't have high requirements for food.
"Let's sit down and talk for a bit," Katsuragi Kohei also came to the counter to place an order.
Suzuki Toru did not refuse him. Soon, he carried his tray, and they found a place to sit together.
Shortly after sitting down, Katsuragi Kohei got straight to the point: "I was rejected by the Student Council President. He said it isn't the right time for me to join the student council yet."
Although he wasn't the least bit surprised, Suzuki Toru still had to feign a look of astonishment on the surface.
"There shouldn't be any reason for him to reject you, right?"
Katsuragi Kohei was silent; he couldn't figure out the reason either.
"Rejecting Katsuragi-san? That Student Council President must have misjudged him!" Totsuka Yahiko complained with dissatisfaction.
This guy now seems to consider himself the right-hand man of Katsuragi Kohei; it is hard to imagine he once claimed to have been a class representative in middle school.
"Suzuki, I want to know what the Student Council President said to you," Katsuragi Kohei asked.
The current situation in the class is very unfavorable for him. If it were to become known that he failed his bid for the student council, the Sakayanagi Faction would surely gain an overwhelming advantage.
Without any countermeasures, Katsuragi Kohei estimates he can hold on for at most another semester or so.
To be honest, Katsuragi Kohei is very hesitant about the prospect of letting Sakayanagi Arisu take control of Class A.
"The Student Council President didn't really say anything to me. We just chatted for a bit, and then he told me I passed," Suzuki Toru replied.
"Are you serious? Even Katsuragi-kun didn't pass the interview, so why were you able to?" Totsuka Yahiko's gaze grew increasingly suspicious.
When he heard Katsuragi Kohei mention that Suzuki Toru had passed the student council interview while Katsuragi Kohei had not, he almost thought he had heard it backward.
"Why wouldn't I pass the interview?" Suzuki Toru asked in return.
"Are you kidding me? You don't have any outstanding qualities, and it's obvious that Katsuragi-kun is the more capable one!" Totsuka Yahiko immediately became agitated. "I don't understand the student council's judgment at all. Katsuragi-kun is much more qualified to be selected than you!"
"Yahiko, watch your language!" Katsuragi Kohei frowned. If Totsuka Yahiko hadn't insisted on following him, he wouldn't have brought him here.
"I just think it's a bit unfair. If you can't join the student council, those people in the Sakayanagi Faction might become even more arrogant," Totsuka Yahiko said hurriedly.
"That is why I am looking for a solution." Katsuragi Kohei cast a stern look at Totsuka Yahiko, then urged him to apologize to Suzuki Toru.
Even though he was unwilling, Totsuka Yahiko gave a very honest apology.
Suzuki Toru accepted his apology calmly.
"Sorry, Suzuki. We didn't mean to offend you, but..." Katsuragi Kohei hesitated for a moment. "You should be aware of the class's situation. Joining the student council would be beneficial for the class, and I hope you can help everyone out in the future."
"I've thought about that too, but to be honest, I don't really understand the role of the student council yet, so I don't know how I can help," Suzuki Toru sighed.
"That's fine. As long as you are willing to help, that's enough," Katsuragi Kohei smiled.
In most cases, the student council is responsible for managing internal student affairs, and club funding is also approved and distributed by them, so they hold significant power.
Although he isn't on the student council, having a student from Class A in there is fine; it's much the same.
After finishing this topic, Katsuragi Kohei seemed to have no intention of continuing the conversation.
"I can understand your thoughts, but I also agree with Totsuka-kun's point of view," Suzuki Toru said out of the blue. "You are more suited to join the student council than I am, Katsuragi-kun."
Katsuragi Kohei was taken aback by this, assuming Suzuki Toru was being self-deprecating, and comforted him: "Actually, your abilities are excellent; you don't need to worry too much."
"No, that's not what I'm saying. Do you want to join the student council, Katsuragi-kun?"
Having reached this point, and looking at Suzuki Toru's calm eyes, Katsuragi Kohei set aside his previous expression and began to seriously consider what he meant.
Chapter 27: Horikita Suzune
"I can help you join the student council. As long as you nod, you won't even need an interview; you can join the student council with me next month."
Faced with this statement, which sounded like a back-door deal, Katsuragi Kohei fell into a rare, long silence.
"You aren't lying, are you?" Totsuka Yahiko didn't believe Suzuki Toru's nonsense. "Even if you are an acquaintance of the Student Council President, this is too exaggerated!"
"There is only one spot. This is my privilege. Whether you choose to doubt it is your business, but I won't be handing it out to you," Suzuki Toru replied.
In an instant, veins bulged on Totsuka Yahiko's fist. This guy is getting a bit infuriating, isn't he?
"Say that again if you dare!"
"Yahiko!" Katsuragi Kohei stopped Totsuka Yahiko, then turned to Suzuki Toru and said in a low voice, "What do I have to trade with you?"
This kind of thing is impossible to fake; if he has the intention, he can verify it with Horikita Manabu at any time.
As for how Suzuki Toru secured this, Katsuragi Kohei couldn't imagine it at all. He felt a few vague clues, but couldn't deduce it for the moment.
After all, no one would have expected a freshman to spend one million Private Points to buy a spot on the student council.
The question now is why Suzuki Toru would give this spot to him, and what his goal is.
"The deal is simple. I will let you join the student council, and in return, you must fulfill three requests of mine," Suzuki Toru added. "They won't be too difficult; I will fully take your ability and level into account."
Katsuragi Kohei pondered: "What are the specific requests?"
"For now, there is only the first one; the remaining two have not been decided yet," Suzuki Toru said. "I will notify you in advance when exactly they will begin."
Katsuragi Kohei looked hesitant; this unfathomable deal made it difficult for him to make a decision.
"It wouldn't be making Katsuragi-kun do something strange, would it?" Totsuka Yahiko stared at Suzuki Toru with a sour expression.
Who would want to do something strange to a bald guy?
