It sounded as if he'd been ordered to mold Horikita Suzune into someone else.
"Suzuki is the new student I have the most faith in this year. If you can beat him, even if you don't make it to Class A, I'll admit you've improved. If you can't..." Horikita Manabu paused. "Suzuki will help me deal with you. Keep that in mind, and struggle with all your might from now on, my foolish little sister."
The last sentence had been Suzuki Toru's suggestion to him earlier.
Although he didn't understand what Suzuki was thinking, Horikita Manabu said it without the slightest hesitation.
After all, sometimes his little sister really was foolish.
"Guh..." Horikita Suzune's voice seemed to squeeze its way out of her throat. Her gaze was full of defiance and resentment. "I can do it. I'll definitely prove it to you!"
Horikita Manabu didn't care about her expression. Instead, he turned to Suzuki Toru. "I'm leaving this foolish little sister of mine to you. Don't go easy on her."
"No problem, President." Suzuki Toru agreed, though he felt uneasy inside. If I really don't go easy on her, Horikita Manabu will probably tear me apart.
After saying that, Horikita Manabu seemed unwilling to stay another second.
"Suzuki, remember to get to the Student Council early tomorrow."
With that, he walked past Horikita Suzune without sparing her another glance, as if he had completely lost interest in his little sister.
Suzuki Toru watched Horikita Manabu's retreating back. It seemed it was his turn now.
"The president really is merciful toward you."
As soon as Horikita Manabu left, Horikita Suzune immediately returned to her usual self and stared coldly at the man.
"I don't know what my brother sees in you, but you can only gloat for now."
"Your tongue's sharp. You're completely different from a moment ago." Suzuki Toru walked up to her and studied the girl's beautiful, frost-cold face, smiling faintly. "But I'm not here to talk about all that nonsense."
Horikita Suzune frowned. Before she could speak, Suzuki Toru said softly, "Horikita, when exactly are you going to pay off your debt?"
His voice was like a demon's whisper. Horikita Suzune stiffened from head to toe, as if she were about to fall into a hell from which she could never escape.
Chapter 65: I Only Want Your Rewards
Horikita Suzune knew, of course, that she had a debt. When she saw Suzuki Toru and Kamuro Masumi together in the library today, she had sensed something was wrong.
The two of them made a strange combination no matter how she looked at it, and it made her scalp prickle. She had vaguely guessed the truth.
Now, hearing Suzuki Toru threaten her, Horikita Suzune immediately realized that her supposed creditor was obviously one of his people. She had stupidly walked right into his trap!
She regretted buying the information. Aside from learning the rules sooner, it had been completely useless.
She had told her classmates about it, but no one had paid her any attention. It was infuriating.
"The deadline is next October. That's still a long way off. Just because I'm not paying now doesn't mean I won't pay later," Horikita Suzune said coldly. "Besides, you're not the one I signed the contract with. What right do you have to collect the debt?"
Suzuki Toru took out the contract right in front of her.
Since his dorm room was on the second floor, he had been able to run back and get the contract.
Horikita Suzune froze. The contract was in his hands, too. There was no doubt about it: the whole deal had been a trap from the start. He had taken advantage of her desperation and lured her right into it.
"You should know perfectly well that I haven't received any Private Points this month. Even if you show me the contract now, I can't pay you. It's meaningless." Horikita Suzune didn't think Suzuki Toru could do anything to her. The repayment deadline hadn't passed yet.
"That's true. You're broke right now, so there's nothing to squeeze out of you." Suzuki Toru smiled. "But have you ever thought about what'll happen if you still can't scrape together four hundred thousand Private Points by next term?"
Horikita Suzune fell silent for a moment. "I won't default. You can be sure of that."
If she defaulted, her debt would increase to two million Private Points.
"Unfortunately, Suzune, you can promise to repay your debt, but as creditors, we can also assess your long-term income and decide whether you're capable of paying it back."
As he spoke, Suzuki Toru let out a deep sigh.
"Your Class D has zero points. Setting aside this month, you have five months left. That means Class D needs to recover to at least 800 Class Points next month. Otherwise, you'll have no way to repay the debt."
Horikita Suzune pressed her lips together. She knew it was true, which was why she had been doing her best to help Ken Sudō and the others while trying to figure out how to restore the class's points.
Still, Chabashira Sae, their homeroom teacher, had refused to tell them how Class Points were gained or lost.
For now, there didn't seem to be much they could do beyond keeping the classroom orderly.
As for Suzuki Toru's information, it had mentioned an exam that could greatly change Class Points, but the details were vague.
Looking at it now, she guessed he didn't understand what the exam was, either.
Horikita Suzune thought it might have something to do with the midterm exams. If failing meant expulsion, perhaps there were corresponding rewards for passing?
"You've never considered borrowing money from someone else, have you, Suzune?" Suzuki Toru could see what she was thinking. Then he chuckled. "I almost forgot—you don't have any friends, so you can't bring yourself to ask."
Horikita Suzune felt her dignity take a hit. She glared at him coldly. "What exactly are you trying to say?"
"It's obvious. Kamuro and I both think you've lost the ability to repay your debt." Suzuki Toru sounded regretful.
"No!" Horikita Suzune knew her words sounded weak, but her eyes still held a stubborn defiance.
"There's no saving you. Just wait until you default." Suzuki Toru suddenly paused and thought for a moment. "Actually, that'll take too long. Why don't you just admit you can't pay and refuse to repay it?"
He clicked his tongue and said with a hint of helplessness, "You are the president's little sister, after all. For his sake, I'll even let you get away with being a deadbeat. I'll take the loss."
Horikita Suzune glared at him. "Don't drag my brother into this. I said I'd repay you, and I will!"
Suzuki Toru blinked, amused. "Suzune, society has never been about what you say. It's about what you're going to do. How are you going to prove you can repay me?"
Horikita Suzune was left speechless and could only fall silent.
"Heh. Looks like the creditor will have to assess your assets for himself." Suzuki Toru gave her an intrigued smile and openly looked her over.
Although he and Horikita Manabu both thought the girl was a little foolish, a closer look showed that she did have a few assets. Her pretty face was like a painting, and the slight tilt of her brows and eyes gave her a hint of foxlike allure. Ignoring her cold gaze, he could see the prominent curve beneath her uniform shirt, clearly hiding a pair of soft, full breasts. They were also a sign that the girl's body was maturing.
Her skirt only reached a little below her thighs. In the soft light of dusk, the exposed upper part of her thighs looked especially smooth and delicate. Black thigh-high socks wrapped around her slender calves, neat and clean. Just looking at them brought to mind the phrase "absolute territory," making a person want to defile that sacred place.
"What are you trying to do? The way you're looking at me is disgusting." Horikita Suzune frowned. Now that it was just her and Suzuki Toru here, alone together, who knew what might happen?
Still, she wasn't afraid he'd do anything. She had learned karate and other forms of martial arts, after all.
Horikita Suzune hadn't yet realized that Suzuki Toru didn't need to lay a finger on her.
"If you can't repay your Private Points, there's another way to pay me back."
His words carried a suggestive undertone, and Horikita Suzune's gaze grew even colder.
"So even my brother can misjudge people. I'll tell him exactly how despicable you are. You're disgusting."
"Of course you can." Suzuki Toru smiled. "As it happens, I also forgot to tell the president that his little sister just promised to beat me, then immediately racked up a debt of two million. Maybe I should tell the whole school, too."
Horikita Suzune's expression stiffened. Nothing could have hit her harder than that.
"You don't need to be nervous. I won't do anything to you. I just want you to fulfill a few requests of mine," Suzuki Toru drawled.
"What requests?" Horikita Suzune asked.
Suzuki Toru slowly began to smile, then returned to his usual expressionless face.
"Let me touch your thighs, and I'll knock off 1,000 points. Let me fondle your breasts, and I'll knock off 2,000. Let me take a look down there, and it'll be 5,000. Put on a maid outfit, and I'll knock off 2,000. Wear a collar, and it'll be 3,000..."
Horikita Suzune stared at him, dumbfounded, as he listed these things off like menu items.
After listing his wishes, Suzuki Toru calmly looked at the girl in front of him and the wishes she carried.
"If you don't want to be saddled with two million points of debt and disappoint the president, then work hard to fulfill my requests from now on, until you've paid off every last bit of your debt."
Chapter 66: Let Me See (Revised)
Just as he'd done when he'd squeezed points out of Miyabi Nagumo, Suzuki Toru now planned to squeeze rewards out of Horikita Suzune.
Without the slightest hesitation, he laid out the list he'd been plotting for the girl in front of him. Every item had a clear price, and none of the information was false.
If Horikita Suzune agreed right now, their debt could be wiped out in one fell swoop.
If she thought some of the prices were unreasonable, Suzuki Toru would discuss it with her and work out a fair price.
After all, Suzuki Toru only wanted her rewards. Private Points, debt—it didn't matter. They were just means to an end.
Would this approach make Horikita Suzune angry, or even humiliated?
Well, that would be even better. He wanted the girl to look at him with disgust, scold him, and trample him underfoot.
And things went just as he'd expected. Horikita Suzune made no attempt to hide her disgust. Her gaze was like absolute zero, and her expression was even more exaggerated than if she'd seen non-recyclable garbage.
"Disgusting. I can't believe my brother would take a liking to someone like you." Horikita Suzune's voice was cold, with a hint of contempt. "How ridiculous. My opponent is actually a lecher."
"It's hard to believe someone like me managed to get you in my grasp, too." Suzuki Toru didn't feel the slightest bit ashamed.
His words left Horikita Suzune momentarily speechless, and a shadow fell over her pretty face.
Still, she snorted.
"I haven't fallen so low that I need to repay my debt with my body. I'm more confident I can satisfy you in other ways."
Looking at her self-assured expression, Suzuki Toru was silent for a moment before saying, "Sorry, but your body is more valuable to me."
However, Horikita Suzune earnestly tried to persuade him. "Class A and Class B aren't that far apart. We could form a temporary alliance. Class D isn't a threat to Class A yet."
Her reasoning was simple. If Class A wanted an alliance, Class D was the most suitable partner. Class D had nothing right now, making it an ideal pawn to send into the fray.
Class D could also seize the opportunity to gain some benefits, even if it couldn't climb to a higher rank.
More importantly, if Horikita Suzune could win over Class A single-handedly, her standing and authority in her own class would surely rise dramatically.
Suzuki Toru was a little speechless. She really was quick to adapt and had begun adjusting to this school, but she still came across as arrogant and self-important, with a strikingly clear sort of foolishness.
"Suzune, when a creditor assesses your assets, it's not about what you have. It's about what I want." Suzuki Toru's voice was hollow. "I'm a vulgar person. You have two choices: agree to my terms now, or agree to them next term."
Horikita Suzune was silent for a while, then bit her lip. "The deadline hasn't arrived yet. You can come back to me next term."
Suzuki Toru smiled faintly. "But I don't have much faith in you right now, Suzune. Even if I let you put this off, you'll have to offer me a little something to sweeten the deal, won't you?"
A flicker of struggle showed in Horikita Suzune's eyes. To be honest, no normal person would accept these conditions, but she also knew very well that she might not be able to repay the debt.
Just as Suzuki Toru had said, she could refuse now, but what about later?
Wouldn't the debt keep growing?
"I can give you a list, and you can choose whatever you like from it. If there are things you don't want to do, you can pass." Suzuki Toru gently coaxed the girl. "Actually, I'm being very generous to you, out of respect for the president. Otherwise, I would've added interest from the start instead of limiting your default penalty to a simple two million."
