Background

Chen Feng is the legitimate son of Chen Weng of the Green Mountain World Chen Family. He left home to study under Li Alchemist, rejecting the path of inheriting his family’s leadership in favor of roaming the world as a hero. He wanted to confront injustice with his own sword rather than rely on the Chen Family’s influence. 961 969 970

His ambition is rooted in both chivalry and filial loyalty. He insists that he will judge right and wrong clearly and settle grudges cleanly, yet declares that he would follow and protect his father even if doing so cost him his reputation or made him an enemy of the world. Chen Changsheng considers him the person most like a hero that he has met. 970

After awakening from fifty thousand years of sealed slumber, Chen Feng learns that Chen Weng has died and that many of his former companions have either perished in war or been defeated by time. Although he initially believes Chen Changsheng has also died, he never fully accepts that possibility and is later reunited with him after Chen Changsheng reveals that his death was feigned. 1357 1358 2214 2215

Chen Feng deliberately delayed his own emergence into the Chang Sheng Epoch because he believed the relatively ordered Pill Epoch offered too few opportunities for his chivalrous sword. He sought instead to witness the turbulence of a new epoch and protect people left without law, reason, or recourse. 1352

Chen Feng is straightforward, proud, and guided by an unusually strong sense of justice. He does not judge friendship by cultivation, wealth, or status; someone who suits his temperament is worthy of drinking with him whether they are powerful or a beggar. He refuses to become deferential toward Chen Changsheng merely because of Chen Changsheng’s strength. 980

His idealism is not simple naivety. Chen Feng repeatedly confronts the cost of protecting others, particularly when Liu Qingqing’s past as an assassin forces him to decide whether mercy, justice, and responsibility can coexist. Chen Feng enters the Pill Domain as an alchemy prodigy and competes in the Pills Convention. Although his results are impressive, he recognizes the gulf between himself and the most exceptional alchemists. 962

While stranded in the Endless Sea, he meets Chen Changsheng and openly explains his desire to become a wandering hero. Their conversations establish the ideological conflict that defines much of Chen Feng’s development: Chen Changsheng emphasizes caution and worldly understanding, while Chen Feng insists that his Unyielding Spirit cannot be restrained. 969 970

Supreme Clarity Temple Training

At the Supreme Clarity Temple, Chen Feng undergoes unconventional training. He carries Earth Dragon Stones over a distance of three thousand li to repair a wall, tempering his body, arms, wrists, and grip through more than a month of labor. 1002 1003

He also retrieves a sword from the temple wall through scripture recitation and receives instruction from Bai Ze in the World Cleansing Mantra. The training emphasizes that a steady heart matters more than brute cultivation in swordsmanship. 1004 1005

Pill Domain Conflict

Chen Feng is drawn into the conflict between the Beast Race, Beast Taming Lineage, Pill Tower, and Wang Family. He agrees to act as a Human Race enforcer but establishes a firm boundary: he will not help kill people. 1106 1109

When Chen Changsheng considers unleashing large-scale retaliation after Chen Feng and Guan Ping are expelled from the Pill Domain, Chen Feng refuses to let innocent lives be endangered for him. He would rather endure the injustice than lose the right to draw his sword in the future. 1126 1127

Guan Ping and Liu Qingqing

Chen Feng protects Guan Ping against the Wang Family because he was entrusted with her safety. He publicly denounces the Wang Family ancestor and Flying Dust Supreme for concealing the truth behind the Golden Bull Horn. 1251 1257

His encounter with Liu Qingqing is more complicated. He initially cannot reconcile her bloody past with her desire to escape the assassin organization. After Liu Qingqing challenges his hypocrisy, Chen Feng realizes that heroism requires accepting responsibility rather than merely judging others. 1268 1285

The Peerless Sword

Chen Feng’s reborn Sword Dao culminates when he swings Hope for Liu Qingqing and others trapped in darkness. He declares that he will bear the consequences of fighting for those unable to change their own fates. 1323

He later challenges Chen Changsheng for the victims of the Chang Sheng Epoch. Rather than seeking to kill his mentor, Chen Feng manifests the Common People’s Sword to confront Chen Changsheng’s guilt and give voice to the dead. 1328 1333

Sealing, Return, and Sword Master

To delay his emergence into the next epoch, Chen Feng deliberately self-severs his cultivation and enters sealed slumber with Liu Qingqing. He awakens fifty thousand years later to find that his father has died, Chen Changsheng is believed to have died, and Lu Mingyu has far surpassed him in cultivation. 1352 1357

Sword God’s Legacy and the Chang Sheng Epoch

After refining his own Sword Dao through the Peerless Sword and Common People’s Sword, Chen Feng further breaks through by letting go of his obsession and creating Unceasing Slash. He later spends half a year before the Iron Sword, ultimately convincing its Sword Spirit to pass on the White-Haired Sword God’s sword path. 1550 1674

In the Chang Sheng Epoch, Chen Feng holds the younger generation to exceptionally high standards. Reunion with Liu Qingqing

Chen Changsheng informs Chen Feng that Liu Qingqing had been unsealed approximately fifty thousand years after his departure and has become the Pill Epoch’s King of the Night with the support of the God of Wealth Hall and Phantom. Return to the Chang Sheng Epoch

After another long journey, Chen Feng arrives in the devastated Chang Sheng Epoch. Nalan Fuguang relays Chen Changsheng’s message that he should remain there for one hundred years and invites him to participate in rebuilding the epoch. Chen Feng chooses to become the guardian of Mountain and River Academy rather than Nalan Fuguang’s disciple. 2575 2576

Nalan Fuguang gives him Liu Qingqing’s final letter, which reveals her sacrifice and encourages him to continue on his path.
