Background / History
Zhang Bairen tells Chen Changsheng that Netherworld Forest may be the only place capable of saving Bai Ze. Chen later confirms that the forest healed Bai Ze's wounds, beginning a lasting debt and companionship between them. Bai Ze regards Chen Changsheng as its master and the only person who can keep it from wandering the world alone. 144 341 1948
Before rejoining Chen Changsheng, Bai Ze remains at Nameless Academy with Nalan Xingde for nearly twenty years. Nalan considers Bai Ze exceptionally capable at escaping danger and knowledgeable in formations, but distrusts its impulsive temperament and tendency to provoke powerful factions. 193
Bai Ze's instincts draw it into conflict with Huayang Grotto-Heaven, though Nalan Xingde believes it did not consciously uncover the faction's secrets. During the escape from Huayang, Bai Ze uses the Bronze Ancient Hall as a battering weapon, breaking through an encirclement and carrying Chen Shisan's group to safety. 216 219
Its search for the Qiongqi Tomb brings it into conflict with the Beast Race and God Race. Bai Ze digs up ancient graves, gathers bones and broken weapons from the battle that killed Qiongqi, and uses their lingering scents to trace Hidden Dragon Zhou. It is eventually captured beneath a Heaven Piercing Seal, but refuses to surrender its clues or stolen treasures unless allowed to enter the tomb alongside its captors. 316 323 332
When Chen Changsheng undertakes Fleshly Rebirth, Bai Ze initially panics at his vanished aura and isolates itself from the others. Upon opening Chen's Wooden Box and finding the preserved piece of flesh, it accepts responsibility for guarding it and retrieving materials needed for Chen's rebirth. 341
After Chen Changsheng's rebirth, Bai Ze promises to protect him until he matures, repaying the protection Chen once gave it. It later guards Qiongqi Tomb, hides Chen Xiang and Yin Qi from hostile powers, and bluffs several powerful presences in the void into withdrawing rather than risking the tomb's defenses. Once they leave, Bai Ze consults Ao Chuang and learns that the tomb has only an estimated forty-percent chance of stopping an attack. 344 498
Over the following millennia, Bai Ze repeatedly returns to the Eight Desolations Nine Regions to recruit powerful helpers. Its condition deteriorates across these journeys: it eventually seeks aid while injured and vomiting blood, then is struck down during a later return. 542
Bai Ze later becomes one of Chen Changsheng's most visible agents. It manages Sky Abyss World when Chen is absent, purchases Chai Yan's father and brother out of the Holy Ruins Forbidden Ground's mine, and accepts Chai Yan's family into its service. Its mining business also earns profits through fixed contracts with cultivators whose cultivation rises. 716 717 729 738
In the Pill Epoch, Bai Ze adopts disguises to avoid exposing its divine-beast identity. It participates in the Pills Convention, aids Guan Ping's attempt to absorb the Void Demon Flame's origin, and reveals its true antlered, winged form while confronting the Wang Family ancestor. 956 1039 1264
When Chen Changsheng prepares to enter slumber, Bai Ze cooperates in a plan that secures a fifty-thousand-year sealing period from an old man. Bai Ze agrees to enter the man's dreamscape to assist in killing the Wang Family ancestor and assumes responsibility for watching over Lu Mingyu and the others afterward. 1348
Bai Ze remains active in Chen Changsheng's later schemes. It helps fabricate an emergency involving Chen's old injuries to mobilize Lu Mingyu, accompanies Chen during the Greenwood Epoch's search for talent, and joins the decision to nurture the audacious servant Lin Yuan. 1640 1731
Bai Ze eventually reunites with the broader Bai Ze Clan's legacy. It is overjoyed to learn that its clan will return, is later addressed as an ancestor by younger Bai Ze, and becomes involved in opportunities created for the clan through Chen Changsheng's proposed Epoch Passage and medicinal-herb trade. 1655 2062 2236
Bai Ze has recovered memories of its former life, but not its former cultivation; Chen Changsheng explains that its current body could not withstand that power without becoming stronger. Seeking to recover its former state, Bai Ze attempts to reclaim the bloodline power it left behind in the past. Chen believes that an approximately ninety-five-percent ancestral bloodline reversion could restore Bai Ze's former Innate Divine Ability, though the result of this attempt is not yet known. 1721 1831 1834
Appearance
Bai Ze usually appears as a large snow-white canine, variously described as a giant wolf or Big White Dog. Its true divine-beast form is marked by antlers and a pair of snow-white wings. 193 1028 1264
- Snow-white fur and a large canine build. 716 949
- Two antlers emerge in its true form. 1028
- A pair of snow-white wings manifests when it reveals its divine-beast body. 1028 1264
- Can disguise itself as a Silver Moon Wolf through Chen Changsheng's array techniques. 370
- Can assume a burly human appearance with a specially made Human Skin Mask and illusion techniques. 1610
Personality
Bai Ze is impatient, boastful, and intensely greedy. It eagerly seeks rare treasures, impersonates a devout worshipper to infiltrate Cloud Mountain Temple, and even prays for treasures to appear in its path and enemies to die. Its appetite for valuables extends to medicinal mud, ancient tombs, recording stones, and Chen Changsheng's storage artifacts. 221 949 1035 1238
Its recklessness is tempered by sharp survival instincts. Bai Ze is naturally inclined to seek fortune and avoid calamity, yet it still repeatedly causes trouble—often because its instincts drive it toward danger before it recognizes why. When genuinely threatened, it equips itself with excessive protective treasures, prioritizes escape, and becomes pessimistic when faced with opponents beyond its expectations. 216 319 335 1962
Despite its abrasive manner, Bai Ze is deeply loyal to Chen Changsheng and compassionate toward the weak. It protects Chen's rebirth plan, helps Guan Ping at personal risk, and cannot remain indifferent to Chai Yan's grief. As an elder among the Bai Ze, it also teaches that the strong should value their lives rather than risk death for empty reputation. 341 716 1039 2062
Bai Ze is bluntly pragmatic when dealing with life-and-death matters. It challenges Chen Changsheng over the consequences of saving only selected people with the Essence of All Things and objects to his contemplated massacre of the Beast Taming Lineage, even derisively calling him a “Butcher.” 264 1126
Although it fears Guan Ping's fixation on using divine beasts as alchemical materials, Bai Ze deliberately remains close to her because its instincts detect her extraordinary future potential as an alchemist. 991
Abilities & Skills
Auspicious Beast Instinct
Bai Ze possesses an innate sense for fortune, calamity, and unusual opportunities.
- Its instincts lead it toward suspicious threats, including Huayang Grotto-Heaven, even when it does not consciously know the reason. 216
- It instinctively seeks fortune and avoids disaster, making its apparently random travels difficult to predict. 319
- Its bloodline allows it to perceive major opportunities such as the potential represented by Chen Changsheng's Virtual World. 1849
- Bai Ze's appearances are historically associated with world-changing events and the emergence of a sage. 377 443
Miraculous Nose
Bai Ze can identify and track scents far beyond ordinary perception.

- It can detect the distinct scent of local void-space and used it to investigate Hidden Dragon Zhou. 332
- Its clan can identify weaknesses in more than ninety-nine percent of Beast Race members through scent. 960
- Ancient Divine Beasts possess bloodlines too powerful for Bai Ze to sniff out their weaknesses. 960
- It can assess a person's condition through their aura, including detecting Qian Ya's chaotic aura and limited remaining lifespan. 960
Bloodline Legacy
Bai Ze has inherited fragments of the Bai Ze Clan's unique bloodline memories and divine-ability methods.
- Its inherited memories principally concern methods for employing the Bai Ze Clan's divine abilities. 960
- The Bai Ze Clan's historical authority over beasts stems from both its ability to identify weaknesses and its ancient record of hunting and subduing other beasts. 960
- Bai Ze's clan traditions associate its bloodline with understanding the feelings of all things and knowing the forms and appearances of creatures under heaven. 960 991
- Recovering Bai Ze's original bloodline power may restore an Innate Divine Ability it possessed before its past death. 1831 1834
Combat, Escape, and Formations
Bai Ze combines speed, durability, formation knowledge, and improvised weaponry.
- It is confident in its ability to escape capture and is recognized by Nalan Xingde as having formidable escape methods. 193
- It uses the Bronze Ancient Hall as a high-speed battering weapon; its weight can kill cultivators below the Life Lamp Realm on contact and cripple stronger opponents. 219
- It has mastered a broad range of techniques, including illusions, formations, Divine Sense attacks, spells, and escape methods. 219
- It wields a crystalline Big Bone Club in battle. 219 1264
- It inherited Chen Changsheng's teachings in formations, though the Heaven Piercing Seal can suppress this advantage. 193 323
- Its divine-beast body is extremely resilient and can endure brief exposure to the Void Demon Flame while it distracts the flame from Guan Ping. 1039
- It fights the Wang Family ancestor in the void after revealing its true form. 1264
Sea of Consciousness Safeguards
Bai Ze's Sea of Consciousness is protected against forced Divine Sense intrusion.
- Safeguards associated with the Undertaker, the Jade Emperor, and Desolate Heaven Emperor Wu Li repel the Beast Race experts attempting to search its mind. 323
- The protections prevent captors from easily extracting information concerning the Qiongqi Tomb or Chen Changsheng's secrets. 323
Alchemy
Bai Ze possesses practical knowledge of alchemy and aspires to become the Beast Race's foremost alchemist.
- It participates in the Pill Epoch's Pills Convention while disguised as a Silver Moon Wolf. 956
- Its sensitive nose can identify conflicting medicinal properties and nearly identical pill formulas. 1012
- It can refine pills while remaining in beast form, though doing so is more difficult than refining in a humanoid body. 1012
Teaching and Scriptural Knowledge
- Bai Ze teaches Chen Feng the World Cleansing Mantra, which Chen Changsheng had entrusted it to pass on. Reciting the mantra helps wear away the killing intent of a sword Chen Feng hopes to claim. 1004
- It discreetly encourages Guan Ping during an alchemy competition, urging her not to assume that lacking external resources makes success impossible. 1013
- It studies the Bitter Sea Emperor Realm System, though it says it has not yet entered the Quasi-Emperor Realm. 1848
Disguise and Transformation
Bai Ze can conceal its true race, though some methods impose strict limits.
- Chen Changsheng's array can mimic a Silver Moon Wolf's bloodline pressure and aura. 370
- While using that array, Bai Ze limits itself to Life Lamp Realm output; greater power will shatter the disguise. 370
- A Human Skin Mask combined with illusion and puppetcraft can give Bai Ze a convincing human form. 1610
- Bai Ze dislikes taking human form and prefers remaining a beast. 955
