Yi Chen watched Ryuen's expression change without a word:
"What do you want to do? Use the way you rule your class"
"To deal with me?"
Ryuen smiled knowingly:
"Looks like you know C Class's situation pretty well."
"What about your own class?"
Yi Chen shook his head:
"As you can see."
At that, Ryuen put a hand to his forehead and laughed:
"Just like Kushida said."
"You have practically no presence in your class."
"You can't lead your class into Class A like that."
Yi Chen watched him quietly. Seeing that Ryuen didn't seem hostile, he sat down on his bed.
Ryuen said arrogantly:
"You're pretty casual, kid."
Yi Chen said:
"What exactly do you want? If you have something to say, just say it."
Ryuen looked at Yi Chen with amusement:
"Angela Yi Chen."
"Do you think the way I manage my class is right?"
Yi Chen replied calmly:
"Right? I guess so. So far, it does seem to be working."
Hearing an answer he hadn't expected, Ryuen's mind filled with memories.
He paused for a moment.
"Forget it."
Ryuen walked over and leaned against the cave wall:
"Damn, I really do hate you smart people."
"I was going to test you."
"But it seems like you already know everything."
"So it doesn't matter. I'm curious to see what you do next."
Yi Chen said calmly:
"I thought you were the type to hit people for no reason."
Ryuen gave a disdainful laugh:
"Depends on the situation. Force is the quickest and best way to rule."
"Academic ability and all that doesn't matter at all."
Yi Chen said:
"The rain's stopped. You can go."
Ryuen replied:
"Why should I? This cave doesn't belong to you alone."
Yi Chen looked at Ryuen helplessly:
"Suit yourself."
The two sat awkwardly for a while.
Yi Chen spoke up:
"Are the two of us going to take the rest of the exam here?"
Ryuen smiled at that:
"Forget it. Seeing as you were driven here, I doubt there's any saving your D Class in this exam."
"I'll find another place once the rain stops."
Looking at Ryuen, Yi Chen hadn't expected him to be such a normal person.
Ryuen said with amusement:
"Since you think my management style is good, come see how I do this time."
"If you still want to transfer to our class, you're welcome."
Yi Chen looked at Ryuen quietly.
The rain kept falling outside, and neither of them had anything to do.
They didn't talk. They just stared at each other, both pretending to be busy.
Yi Chen watched the rain fall outside in fine, scattered strands.
Ryuen sat on the stool Yi Chen had made and looked outside.
Every so often, Ryuen glanced at the rain, then at Yi Chen.
Now and then, he paced around the cave, looking over the various things Yi Chen had made.
About an hour passed before the rain stopped.
Ryuen watched the rain let up and picked up his jacket.
"Angela Yi Chen, the competition at this school has only just begun."
"Just watch how I lead C Class into Class A."
After delivering that bold declaration, Ryuen disappeared into the woods.
Yi Chen watched him leave and waved helplessly.
At that moment, a sense of amusement stirred in Ryuen.
"He thinks I'm good at managing my class?"
"Angela Yi Chen, huh? Interesting."
"I thought Yi Chen would be an easy opponent to handle. I didn't expect him to be this interesting."
Watching the direction Ryuen had gone, Yi Chen shook his head and murmured:
"Ryuen's like a lunatic."
"I can't figure him out or understand him, but how did he convince people from the other classes to betray them?"
"Did he offer points? The people in B and A Classes aren't exactly short on those."
"Looks like the other classes must have people like Kushida, too."
After tidying up a little, Yi Chen headed toward Class A's base along the muddy path.
When he arrived at Class A's base, he found that even the tents were gone.
Yi Chen began searching again, looking for their former base so he could work out what had happened.
He spotted Kito from Class A in a flat clearing.
At the Class A camp, everyone stood around arguing.
Yi Chen watched quietly.
"Why did we make a mistake when taking over the base?"
"It's not that—sorry, I wasn't careful."
"Forget it. We didn't lose that many points."
"Hurry up and take over the next one."
The green-haired student beside Katsuragi began using the green card.
Yi Chen thought:
"So Yahiko is Class A's leader."
"Next is Class B."
Yi Chen turned and left, completely unaware that someone else had just been checking out Class A, too.
And that person had spotted Yi Chen.
"Yahiko, Class A's leader."
"So D Class's Yi Chen saw him, too? Interesting."
Yi Chen went back and thought it over. There was no need to guess about Class B.
He would just coast until the exam ended.
The fifth day.
On the night of the sixth day, heavy rain began falling again.
Ayanokoji carried Horikita to Yi Chen's cave.
Yi Chen was astonished.
Ayanokoji spoke calmly:
"Come with me."
Yi Chen followed Ayanokoji, watching Horikita in his arms.
He wondered:
"What's going on? Ayanokoji knew I was here."
"And why did Horikita still get sick?"
"Did everything follow the original storyline?"
"Of course, I really haven't done anything to interfere with the exam."
Yi Chen followed Ayanokoji through the forest in the rain.
After asking, Yi Chen understood that Ayanokoji simply wanted to change the leader to himself.
"As expected of the protagonist. Did the plot make things turn out this way, or...?"
Yi Chen looked at the impassive Ayanokoji.
Yi Chen didn't know what to think.
After all, coasting along was pretty comfortable.
The three soon reached the Cruise Ship and found Chabashira.
Chabashira looked at the two of them and at Horikita in Ayanokoji's arms.
A sinister smile, unlike any she had shown before, crossed Chabashira's face.
At noon the next day, the exam ended.
Yi Chen returned to his class.
Once again, everyone asked after him with concern.
The classes began filling in their answers for the other classes' leaders.
Hirata came over and asked Yi Chen to fill his out.
Yi Chen thought it over.
"If I go by the plot..."
"Class A's leader was the one I saw, anyway. It was Yahiko."
"For Class B, I won't write anyone down. It should be the person beside the purple-haired student."
"Ever since they took over the base, the purple-haired student hasn't looked worried."
Yi Chen glanced at the people in Class B and remembered who their leader was.
But Yi Chen didn't write the name down.
"There shouldn't be a butterfly effect with C Class's leader."
"Ibuki was sent out by Ryuen, right? She was trying to find out who our class's leader was."
"Then she shouldn't have been able to take over a base."
"Ryuen didn't go to the other classes to gather information."
"Instead, he showed up here."
"C Class: Ryuen."
To be safe, Yi Chen called Ayanokoji over to take a look.
Ayanokoji looked at the answers Yi Chen had filled in, expressionless, then nodded.
Yi Chen submitted the form.
Soon, the results of the classes' Uninhabited Island Exam were announced.
Last place, C Class:
"0 points."
The three remaining C Class students on the island stared in shock.
Ryuen looked incredulous:
"What? How is that possible?"
Kushida gritted her teeth and stared at Ryuen, just as stunned.
Third place, Class A:
"140 points."
The members of Sakayanagi's faction in Class A glared angrily at Katsuragi.
Second place:
"B Class, 150 points."
First place:
"D Class, 220 points."
The students of D Class erupted in cheers.
