As the sky darkened and the sun set, the moon rose. The city sank into darkness, and the only people left on the streets were drunks stumbling in and out of taverns and the odd unfortunate soul with somewhere to be.

Two men in black robes stood outside an inn, their lanterns flickering in their hands. Most of their bodies were swallowed by the night, making them look like two floating heads.

After nightfall, they found the search had actually gotten much easier. Kraft had been so busy that he surely hadn't had time to look for long-term lodgings. And since he wasn't staying in a house provided by a professor, all they had to do was check the inns with their lights still on.

From the students who hadn't left yet, they pieced together Kraft's daily route around the Academy. Thanks to his high profile at the Medical School and his easygoing nature, quite a few people had greeted him in passing. For anyone familiar with Wenden Port, that was enough to narrow down the search considerably.

Liston's idea was simple: walk into an inn and ask if they had a handsome young tenant with blond hair. Surely no one would forget someone like that.

After visiting several inns, Lucius began to grow anxious. Liston, however, remained confident in his judgment. Finding where Kraft was staying was only a matter of time.

Of course, whether they'd find Kraft himself was another matter, and even if they did, there was no guarantee he'd be alive. As far as Liston knew, Kraft was meticulous to the point of being severe about such things. He never let drinking interfere with his work, either. Even if he'd broken a leg and was bedridden, he'd at least have someone deliver a message.
