Background / History

Tang San studied at Shrek Academy and stepped forward to defend its honor when Qian Yun challenged the academy's students. He entered the match as a level 29 Blue Silver Grass Soul Master, confident in Yu Xiaogang's teaching that a Martial Soul's worth depended on its master rather than its nature. Qian Yun defeated him with Spirit Roar, leaving Tang San badly injured and deeply troubled by the apparent gap between Blue Silver Grass and the Crown Martial Soul. 46 51

While seeking a Spirit Ring in the Star Dou Great Forest, Tang San defeated Dugu Yan and provoked her grandfather, Dugu Fu. Dugu Fu abducted and poisoned him, but Tang San identified the terminal poison afflicting both Dugu Fu and Dugu Yan. He leveraged that knowledge into a bargain: he would cure them in exchange for his freedom and access to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well's medicinal garden. 68 69 72 73

After consuming the Infernal Delicate Apricot and Octagonal Mysterious Ice Grass, Tang San survived the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well and gained immunity to water, fire, and poison. He is resourceful under pressure. While held captive by Dugu Fu, he uses poison knowledge, medicinal herbs, and Blue Silver Grass in unconventional ways to survive, descend an impossible cliff, and negotiate for his freedom.
