The soldiers who had just surrounded them were forced back by the explosions. The self-propelled artillery's Machine Soul had bought the two of them time with her sacrifice, and they landed safely from the air.
Unfortunately, the battle was far from over. In fact, it had only just begun.

Chloe nodded. Without the self-propelled artillery, Nora would be of little use on the battlefield. She had already surveyed the area from the air and spotted several friendly artillery pieces nearby that were still operational.

She flashed a provocative gesture toward an [Investigator] in the distant trench, then took a deep breath and activated her ability. She was ready to switch places with a duplicate. Based on her experience, the enemy would probably charge at her next.
