Background / History

Tang San entered Notting Academy as a work-study student, defeated Wang Sheng, and became the dormitory boss. His attempt to offer Xiao Wu bedding was rejected; she instead chose to leave with Lin Qingmo, beginning Tang San's strained relationship with her. 6

The Chat Group later identifies Tang San as a soul from another world and the chosen successor of the Asura God King, one of the God Realm's Five Great Law Enforcement Gods. This revelation causes Bibi Dong to abandon her immediate intention to execute him. 11

After obtaining his first Spirit Ring, Tang San sought Xiao Wu's approval through greater strength. Her disdain and his teacher Yu Xiaogang's advice that girls admire the strong drove him to train with the goal of making her unable to ignore him. 25

Tang Hao later entrusted Tang San to Yu Xiaogang and provided an Elder Token of Martial Soul Hall. Yu Xiaogang became Tang San's principal teacher and repeatedly encouraged him after defeats. 13 31 33

Tang San's rivalry with Lin Qingmo intensified after he challenged him over Xiao Wu. Lin Qingmo defeated him without activating a Martial Soul, leaving Tang San humiliated and determined to surpass him. 29 31 32

Yu Xiaogang subsequently revealed that Tang San possessed Twin Martial Souls: Blue Silver Grass and the Clear Sky Hammer. He also disclosed that Tang San was the son of Tang Hao, the Clear Sky Douluo. 157

Learning of Tang Hao's persecution by Martial Soul Hall hardens Tang San's hatred toward the organization. Yu Xiaogang explains that the ideal Twin Martial Soul path is to cultivate the first Martial Soul to the Spirit Emperor realm before adding high-age rings to the second, but Tang San later abandons this plan. 158 370

Tang San later learned from Tang Hao that his mother, Ah Yin, had been a hundred-thousand-year Blue Silver Emperor soul beast who sacrificed herself to save Tang Hao and Tang San. The sacrifice left Tang San's Blue Silver Grass defective; its mutation, withering, and stalled cultivation eventually led Tang Hao to direct him toward cultivating the Clear Sky Hammer instead. 343 344 334

Ah Yin's recovery as the continent's unique Blue Silver Emperor permanently blocks Tang San's Blue Silver Grass from evolving into a Blue Silver Emperor. The resulting deterioration leaves the Martial Soul unable to perform even basic Spirit Skills. 11 275 286 334

After a month away with Tang Hao, Tang San returned to Blue Tyrant Academy with a colder temperament, a facial scar, level 47 spirit power, and four high-age spirit rings attached to his Clear Sky Hammer. 369 370

Tang Hao subsequently helps Tang San acquire a fifty-thousand-year fifth Clear Sky Hammer Spirit Ring. During the hunt, Tang Hao is crippled further while drawing away a hundred-thousand-year Titan Giant Ape, then orders Tang San to fuse with the forty-thousand-year Strength Left Arm Bone from his severed arm. 460 461

Following his defeat by Xiao Wu in the Elite Soul Master Tournament, Tang San accompanies the wheelchair-bound Tang Hao to the Clear Sky Sect. He defeats the level 66 Tang Long with Clear Sky Hammer techniques, reveals his Spirit King cultivation to the sect elders, and is permitted to acknowledge his ancestry subject to three trials. 485 500 501

Appearance

Upon returning to Blue Tyrant Academy, Tang San wears a fitted black outfit and ties his long hair behind his head. His formerly delicate face bears a faint scar, while his demeanor has become cold and forbidding. 369

  • Long hair, casually tied back. 369
  • Black fitted clothing. 369
  • Faint facial scar. 369
  • Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul became withered during its mutation. 299 334
  • After losing to Xiao Wu in the tournament, he returns to the Clear Sky Sect in ragged clothing with disheveled hair. 500

Personality

Tang San is highly competitive and deeply sensitive to humiliation. His defeats by Lin Qingmo, rejection by Xiao Wu, and inability to keep pace with his peers repeatedly push him toward harsher training and a fixation on proving his strength. 25 31 32 304

He is also stubborn under pressure. After killing the Man Faced Demon Spider, he refused to yield to the Dragon Duke and Snake Matriarch despite the danger to his group; afterward, he resented Lin Qingmo for resolving the conflict. 126 127

His drive to win can turn ruthless. Against Dai Mubai, he used Purple Demon Eye to blind him before attacking with hidden weapons and poisons. In later battles, he resorted to hidden weapons even when they could endanger others. 47 142

Following his time with Tang Hao, Tang San becomes notably colder, more calculating, and more intimidating. He brutally defeats Dai Mubai with three hammer strikes and claims the Shrek Team captaincy without opposition. 369 371

Tang San's revelations about his parents and Martial Soul Hall deepen his fixation on revenge. He also blames the Blue Silver Forest, Lin Qingmo, and Xiao Wu for circumstances he believes derailed his ideal cultivation path. 158 370 500

His later rapid advancement makes him increasingly proud and obsessive about validating his strength before Xiao Wu and Lin Qingmo. Even after suffering a severe Angel Sword injury, he refuses to surrender and attempts to continue fighting with the Great Sumeru Hammer. 504 516

Abilities & Skills

Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul

Tang San's first Martial Soul is Blue Silver Grass, used for battlefield control, binding, toxins, and spirit-skill combinations. Its condition later deteriorates after Ah Yin's return to the Blue Silver Emperor. 29 145 275 334

  • Entanglement — summons Blue Silver Grass to bind opponents; the grass carries toxins. 29
  • Parasite — his second Spirit Skill; Lin Qingmo considers it his more tactically distinct Blue Silver Grass skill. 145 177
  • Spider Web Binding — his third Spirit Skill; used alongside Parasite against Yu Tianheng. 177
  • His first and third Spirit Skills are criticized as redundant. 145
  • Lightning and high heat are especially effective against his plant-type Martial Soul. 142
  • The Martial Soul eventually becomes withered and unable to perform even basic Spirit Skills. 299 334
  • Ah Yin's return as the sole true Blue Silver Emperor cuts off its evolution path permanently, compelling Tang San to abandon it as his primary Martial Soul. 11 275 468

Tang San's second Martial Soul is the Clear Sky Hammer, described as the world's number one Tool Martial Soul. He begins cultivating it after abandoning the defective Blue Silver Grass path. 157 344 370

Tang Sect Secret Arts

Tang San retains techniques associated with the Tang Sect, including movement, grappling, internal cultivation, and concealed weaponry. 29 47 304

  • Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon — a grappling technique that fails to affect Lin Qingmo and is later evaded by Xiao Wu through Teleportation. 29 483
  • Purple Demon Eye — fires purple eye beams that temporarily blind or delay an opponent. 47
  • Mysterious Heaven Skill — used for continual cultivation, though it cannot overcome the later stagnation in his spirit power. 304
  • Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track — a movement technique that produces afterimages and allows rapid repositioning. 482 483
  • Chaotic Cloak Hammer Technique — alternates feints and solid hammer blows during combat. 483
  • His former life remains psychologically significant; he recalls being forced to kneel before the Tang Sect elders over stealing the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record. 194

Hidden Weapons and Poisons

Tang San manufactures and employs Tang Sect hidden weapons, often combining them with poisons and precise targeting. 47 81 247

  • Refuses to sell complete Tang Sect weapon blueprints to Ning Fengzhi, offering only finished weapons or partial blueprints. 249

Soul Bones

Tang San uses Soul Bones to compensate for the lost potential of his Blue Silver Grass and prematurely cultivated Clear Sky Hammer. 468 504

  • Strength Left Arm Bone — a forty-thousand-year Soul Bone taken from Tang Hao's severed arm and fused under Tang Hao's orders. 461
  • Right Leg Soul Bone — one of two high-age Soul Bones in Tang San's body; its life energy is abnormally dense. 468
  • The Left Arm and Right Leg Soul Bones are each estimated to be thirty to forty thousand years old and provide substantial strength enhancement. 468 482
  • Later forcibly fuses with a complete set of ten-thousand-year Soul Bones to reach level 66, though the process destabilizes his foundation and causes Soul Power leakage. 504

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Storage Soul Tool — given by Yu Xiaogang; contains Tang Sect hidden weapons and other items. 47
  • Sand-Shooting Shadow — a powerful hidden weapon sold through auction. 247 248
